You're not reading the map wrong, you are just throwing in a lot of suppositions that were discussed in that other thread. Although Lewis, if you look there are resorts stops for the monorail, the current light monorail MK loop would be kept.

First things about these plans (there are a couple). These are not using the current vehicles or beam. Those were just plain poorly specced out. Too small, too insufficient. So this would be a totally new additional beam, and probably removing the current Epcot loop. Secondly, this design utilizes switches and automization, which allows for much more frequent trains and the ability to have expresses. Also keep in mind that traffic for a resort's home park would not even be using the monorail, so for instance the MK resorts would use the original beam for the Mqagic Kingdom. Plus, the resorts with the most guests traveling are the two middles ones, and at those guests would be moving both north and south.

If you think about how the busses work, it's not that much different. Just many more independent vehicles. And keep in mind, busses would only likely be used for Coronado and maybe Fort Wilderness (although a diesel steam train would fit nicely there). The rest would some kind of BRT system, real BRT, not the pseudo-BRT some cities are trying to promote. By approaching Downtown Disney from the north you would essentially have a trunk route there.
