Moderate & Value Differences

I was looking into trying out Disney's Carribean Beach Resort and I have been looking up some information. But, I am a bit confused on some things. Now throughout the past years I've gone I've always stayed at Pop Century. And recently I found a Pin code that would do me some good in a few months and I know that CB is right next door. So I've been wanting to try something that has a little more to it...

1) Are the rooms about as big a Value Room with the Additional Sink and are the Beds Bigger?

2) I was looking at the resort map seeing that their are several bus stops around the perimeter. How long is the wait for the busses and does CB have it's own bus line like Pop?

3) If I have a room on the furthest end of the resort is it a long walk to get to the check in area?

4) Are Moderate hotels not as hectic as a Value?

CBR was the first Disney resort we ever stayed at and we loved it....back then. Two years ago my husband and I decided to go back there for a weekend for old times' sake and we were really appalled. The bus service was horrible, and the food court was a circus. We both agreed that we would have been much better off at Pop Century. We do like the other mods, especially POR, but we were really disappointed with CBR.

The rooms are bigger, around 317 sq ft for most of the mods vs I think 260 for most of the Values.

Values have 2 double beds, with a smattering of rooms with a king. CB has 2 full-sized beds; the rest of the moderate resorts have 2 queen-sized beds, and again you'll find rooms with a single king-sized bed scattered throughout all of the resorts.

Not ever having stayed in the CB I can only go by what others have said which is "I recommend you request a room closest to the main house so you don't have to walk as much."

It seems that Values tend to be more hectic, mainly because you'll find more tour groups in them, especially school groups. Less supervision, less brains, more hormones. You can find pantloads in any level of accommodation, but with tour groups you'll find more people goading on bad behavior.

Honestly my first resort was POP and granted I never ate at the food court there and rode the bus like twice, and never got in the pool, but I did sleep and get ready in the room and the last day I plugged the laptop in to the ethernet (remember when there was no wifi) and worked in the room and I did hang by the pool bar one afternoon and visit with people lounging around and had a few cocktails and I have to say my short stay at POP was 100% better than the subsequent visit later in October when we stayed at CBR in a water view room.
The beds were the same size, the room felt very dated, we did have a fridge and that was nice. The pool and play area for the kids was more elaborate, and their was a sandy beach and hammocks, but the bus system was terrible, check in was terrible, the food court was nasty....
The next moderate we stayed at was CSR. I loved CSR but only probably because I stayed in the Cabana section.
I see where a lot of people stay at CBR a lot. But I would choose POR or PORFQ or CSR before I stayed at CBR again....

It's been several years since I stayed at CBR, but I'll answer what I can.

1) slappy magoo covered that one.

2) I don't recall the bus waits being long really. It's also not it's own bus loop per se. Buses come into the resort and circle around, making stops at each areas depot, then head out to their destination. I've never stayed at Pop so I don't know if that's the same set up or not.

3) It would be a walk. When you book, request a building closer to the check-in area. I usually give them 1-3 options when I put a request in.

4) I find moderates to be relaxing. Not as much as deluxes, but once you are out of the main area they can be very quiet. I usually stay at POR when I stay at a moderate and even in the middle of the day the grounds can be peaceful.

I just stayed at CBR a couple weeks ago, I loved the resort. Very well kept, the internal bus system was very efficient. The parks bus were also surprisingly very consistent. I too would absolutely spend a couple extra dollars and get a preferred room location. Ask for building 25 or 26. Specifically ask for rooms 2517-2521 you wont be sorry.

When I was there the place was a ghost town, but in January its often very quiet. I like that way! They have an incredible pool, IMO one of the nicest pools at ANY WDW resort. The rooms are bigger and they were very nice. Mousekeeping was great. I truly was surprised with the resort. Food court was very nice. There isn't many negatives I can come up with......other then the size of the entire resort. It is said that it is the fifth largest resort in the WORLD! and they aint kidding! The resort is slated for a major refurb in the very near future. They too are going to be getting queen size beds but I don't know when exactly it is going to take place.....

I can not express enough how important it is to get a good room location at the resort. If you end up on the other side of the lake you will have to catch a bus just to get a drink. You could walk but by the time you get back to your room your mug will be empty.

I thought the location of the resort itself was great. I would highly recommend the place. My favorite is POR but I would absolutely stay here again.

Buses at CBR can be a longer wait than others- not sure why? My kids loved the pool, and the turtles & fish when crossing the bridge. Nice to relax on a hammock at the beach, and can see some of Illuminations at night from parts of the CBR beach. Long walks around the resort. A separate check-in building, which I didn't care for.
Boys like the moderates over the values because of the water slides.;) The grounds are beautifully kept at all of the moderates. The values can sometimes seem "cheap" hotel-like, but not dirty. We never had to wait too long for a bus at All Star Music or POP. I would say POP is the best value, and of course AOA, but the Little Mermaid rooms are quite a walk to the food court area.
If I had a choice, I'd spend the 400-500$ more for a moderate resort. Just my 2 cents.;)

Aren't full sized and double beds the same size?

Yes, they are. I just didn't catch the flip flop of terminology as I typed. I was using allears.net for reference of each resort; the pages they write for each Value resort, they use the term "double," the page for CB, they use the term "full-sized" and in a rush I just typed as I read without thinking about how they're the same and the dog ate my homework and I didn't realize how late it was and traffic was a bear and have Seasonal Affected Disorder and blah blah blah. Good call.

Wasn't trying to be the word police, just wasn't sure if I was missing something or thinking of incorrect terminology. Just don't let it happen again. We all get confused way too easily around here.

The CB rooms are larger than the other moderate hotels. The CB rooms are 340 sq. feet and the other mods are 314 sq. feet.

The problem is at my job I kinda HAVE to be "the word police," so when I mess up, even just on an internet board, I get all angry and stabby.

I've started at CBR twice, POP twice, and POR once. CBR is nice, but stay as far away from the POTC themed rooms as you can. Nicely themed but we wouldn't been more comfortable sleeping on the grass. There will always be hectic times at every resort depending the time of year and time of day (obviously). CBR had a sandwich I really enjoyed, I believe it was called the Big Bleu. Had it twice. I've seen where people complain about having to walk long distances at the CBR, but the majority of ANY WDW trip is walking/standing, so it was no big deal.

Personally, I'm very hesitant to try POR again because or experience was horrible. Mousekeeping was borderline abusive. CMs weren't helpful either. Live and learn.

I was in the same boat as you were for our trip this June. I was looking at all of the differences and we decided to go up to a Moderate because of a PIN code. What stuck out the most for me was that CBR was the only Moderate that didn't have queen sized beds. So I ended up booking Coronado Springs instead.

Great resort, does get busy at certain times, it is a little dated but really is a nice place, good choices in the food court also
