Moderate resorts?

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort last July and now we're looking to stay in another Moderate resort for our trip in August 2004. Between Coronado Springs, Port Orleans -French Quarter, and Port Orleans - Riverside, what have people liked the best?

I love Caribbean Beach Resort... that's my favorite moderate resort... why do you want to stay somewhere else? Just to try new places? Let's see... I stayed at Port Orleans, and Dixie Landings <<when it was Dixie Landings, and Coronado... I always go back to Caribbean Beach Resort... but I would choose... Coronado next, then Port Orleans... have fun! We'll be there in July or August! YIPPEE! Can't wait!

anyhow... I stayed at Dixie when it was still Dixie.
My family's personal preference is 1 Caribbean Beach 2 Coronado & 3 Port Orleans either riverside of french quarter... in that order...
have fun!
We're going this summer!! WOOHOO!!

i loved coronado so much i stayd there 4 times this past year. port orleans was just ok, the rooms were a bit dirty but thats why they are closing for reburbishment. i stayed a the CBR about 2 years ago and the transportation blew. the busses were always packed close to the end of the night at all the parks. the busses for coronado were seldom late or packed.

we're asking the same quesitons....

1) we've stayed at POR....it was great....good theme....great pool....and decent rooms....but we got placed in Alligator Bayou....it ment for a 10 min walk to the room/food court....
ask for a room in Magnolia Bend....
the location is great too...its an easy way to get to DTD...
overall a great resort....but very kid friendly...which is ok....

2) Coronado Springs....I'm anxious to stay there....the Disney Website portrays it as a really Southweastern resort...but when looking at other photos....we found it to be quite the opposite...
I here the food court is bad though... :( ...it has a horrible set up...
the pool is one of the largest on property....but each area has there own pool....
it can be a long walk....but since you like the CB so much....I would say request a room at the cabanas...it has the same feel as CB does....plua a great location....or the Castias....for more of a Deluxe resort feel
Here's a a good site for ALL CS...
http://www.wdwmemories.com/csr/

I found this resort to be more romantic....and less kid-friendly...which for you and your BF may be peferct...

it can be a big cluster fu** it is decent food though

the maya grill is great for breakfast. nice big buffet

at the intercot site you can see a map of the resord and where the pools are. there are 3 total, one main pool thats HUGE and 2 small private ones. the security didnt even care that we were swimming around midnight in the quiet pool, even though it closed at 10. that was really cool

We stayed at Coronado back when it first opened... so 5 years ago? Anyhow, I do remember that the food court got old after a week... you have to really like Mexican food... for breakfast, lunch, dinner...
The pool was great! I loved the water slide! My daughter got to turn the water on for the pyramid one morning bright & early! That made her day!
The buses were a lot more convenient than at Port Orleans (it was actually Dixie Landings at the time)

Coronado Springs was fine when we stayed this past December. Since it has convention facilities, the front desk and guest relations desks have more staffing and check in was fast even at 1 am. We stayed in the Casitas section which was close to the food court and shops. The resort surrounds a lake which is quite large and nice to walk around. Since many of the guests are there for business, it is seems to have a serene feel. The Ranchos section is the most "southwestern" looking and seems to be far removed from the rest of the resort. However...

It is quite a hike to the main building from the farthest parts of the resort although each section is serviced with a bus stop.

The food court has a great variety of choices, but the pricing is confusing. Be sure to consult the printed prive list before getting your food so you will not be surprised. A very small side salad was $4, and lunch for two was $35. Not really food court prices to me.

I like to try different resorts each trip when we are not using DVC. The next time I stay at a "moderate," I want to try Port Orleans.

It all depends on taste but if you like a mexican/southwestern theme, great transportation and an awesome main pool area, maybe CSR is the place for you.

You can check out pictures and get info from my CSR website below.

Good luck deciding!

The Pepper Market is our favorite place to eat. When you enter the Pepper Market, you will notice it's not your average food court. This is Disney's first new style, "interactive" food court on property. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. You choose your meals in a Mexican market-style set-up while walking from station to station and talking with the chefs. You are seated by a host/hostess and everyone in your party receives a ticket. The host/hostess will take your drink order. You are then free to stroll around the food areas, choose what you want to eat and receive a stamp on your ticket for each item you get. If you don't see something you like, ask because they will mix and match items for you.

Real silverware, not plastic.

At the end of the meal, you present your ticket(s) to a host/hostess and pay as you leave. 10% gratuity is charged automatically to your bill so be sure not to leave an additional tip on the table. If you feel the 10% was not deserved, speak to the host/hostess when paying and it will be removed. The Pepper Market is open 6:30am - 11pm.

Take out meals are not charged the 10%.

Check out my website below for more info on CSR and the Pepper Market, including pictures.

Have a great time!

I say Coronado Springs! It is beautiful, newer than any other moderate resort (even though CBR was rehabed a bit) and if you do decide to stay here, I suggest that you try for the Casitas. they are the closest to the restaurants and main lobby. But the Ranchos are the most beautiful section of the resort if you ask me. But you have more of a walk to go to the lobby.
Have fun, I wish I was going back soon! I have about a year to wait!

I've stayed at all but one of the Moderate priced resorts. Caribbean Beach was a nice place and I heard they renovated their food court area recently.

I stayed at Dixie Landings twice (possibly three times but I'm not sure) and I loved it each time. I never stayed at the Port Orleans side though but I'm sure it's the same type of place.

Coronado Springs is a nice place but I felt it lacked a bit in the food courts and it seemed like it was more geared towards big conventions than anything else.
