Moderate Resort Chaos!!!

Which is a better moderate resort; Coronado Springs or Carribbean Beach.

There are a few things that are pulling me towards both of these resorts.

For Coronado Springs I like the fact that there are only 3 bus stops and that it is close to ANimal Kingdom

For Carribbean Beach, the size is very intimidating, but the theming is absolutely amazing!

Anyone care to help a young man who is going crazy over which resort to book!?!?!

I stayed at CBR 3 times and loved it. (Last time was WL because the kids won't sleep together anymore and we needed bunk beds)

CBR was also my "first" resort and a sentimental favorite.

I did not find the size intimidating, with these disclaimers:

we are not big food court people--typically in 5 days we will eat one meal there--often on arrival day when we are starving and just want food quickly, or some evening when we just want something to eat. We tend to eat at the parks.

Last time I was there, the had an internal bus (I've gotten the impression that this no longer exists) that just made the circle around the resort. Nice to get a ride to the registration desk or Old Port Royale (the food court). Although the resort busses will make the circle also so you can get from "island" to "island".

Every island has a quiet pool which will be close to your room. They are a rectangle full of water--nothing fancy, but they will get you wet and cool. Depending upon your room location, the main pool will be 10 min or less walk--but you can grab a bus.

Good things about CBR

the largest rooms of the moderates (340 sp ft vs 314 sq ft at Coronado and POR-FQ)

for some reason, CBR seems to have coffee pots in every room (they are available in all resorts, but you have to ask) Bring your own coffee--it is available for $$

Check maps of each resort--they are helpful. And the distances are somewhat deceptive. Our first trip we were in Jamaica #41--it looks like a huge hike to the bus stop, but it was, truly, a 3 minute walk.

(let me know if you need a site for the maps)

Coronado Springs' 3 bus stops are not as convenient as they sound. Whenever you return to the resort you stop at bus stop #2 (back side of the convention center) then on to #3 over near the big pool. Then you stop at the main (El Centro) stop. No matter where your room is you will have to walk at long ways and wait a long time.

Both of these resorts are great and have sligh pros and cons but either would be good. The extra bus stops at CBR only take a few minutes more to go through. The rooms are newly remodeled as well as the food court and it has a new restaurant. There are more pools here and the rooms are bigger.
CBR has more differing themes in its three areas and the main pool is more impressive. I like the food court better at CSR as well as the interior decor of the rooms.
Look at all the pictures of both resorts that you can find and choose the one with the themeing YOU like the best. Either one will be great.

Hi GoofyMike29! I just did a poll about 2 weeks ago or so on all of the moderate hotel. You can find it through "search" and then best moderate hotel. Anyhow, if you are in to numbers. Last I looked the results looked like this. 23 voted Port Orleans Riverside as the best. 20 voted for CBR. 12 voted for Port Orleans the French Quarter and 6 votes for Coronado Springs. Hope this helps you some.:) Check the thread for more comments...

2,611 minutes and counting...:sohappy:

Hi All,

My personal favorite for a moderate resort would be the Port Orleans-Riverside. After that would be the CBR. The only downside I found staying at the CBR was that we did not request a room on the first floor and got the second. While the view was beautiful, it was not so much fun lugging our extra large suitcases up all those stairs. And if you have kids, there can be a lot of stuff going into your room. I wish I would have known that the CBR does not have elevators.

The Coronado Springs was ok. The thing we didn't like most about it was having to pay a gratuity for the food court when all the waitress did was bring your beverages. You still had to go stand in line for your choice of food.

But the pools and scenery are great at both resorts.

Coronado Springs has 4 bus stops...1 stop per each "section" and one at the main building.
If size is an issue....Coronado's size should be intimidating too.

I'd say of the 2, I like Coronado.

Stay at Caribbean Beach!!

We have 12 times!

-Martinique and Trinidad North are closest to main area.
-Trinidad South and Barbados are farthest, about 6 min. walk to main area.
-Jamaica and Aruba have the best views, 5 min walk, we always stay in ARUBA! You should request rooms 5256--5259....they ahve the absolute best views of the lake, marina, the tropical island, and everything else you could imagine in a tropical paradise!!!

surfs up don you are the man i am looking for.
what are the jamaica buildings like... they look the most appealing to me
and besides for the main building, what "island" has the best overall location factoring in bus stop distance, distance from arcade, main pool, and so on???
thanks man!

Photos of Caribbean Beach.

More photos . Scroll down the left side of the screen and look at the CBR Fact Sheet.

A good map of CBR.

Like I said above, we were in Jamaica #41 and it was no more than 3 minutes across the parking lot to the bus stop.

Note that each island has its own quiet pool.

Trinidad South can be pretty far from Old Port Royale, but the others are an easy walk. It is also a very pleasant walk--the grounds are beautiful. I like to walk barefoot in the sand also.
