Rumor MK Space Mountain REVISED in 2026? (One track? side-by-side seating?)

yes just look at it..... It's the shortest ride in the park.
I think the Tron ride is fine...it would have been nice with it's own sort of miniland to expand the setting and give it a little bot of a storyline... or something... It just feels like a misplaced item... nothing about it feels grounded in it's location...
I personally don’t feel like most of the rides in WDW (particularly Magic Kingdom) feel very connected to the area around it, Tron just feels jarring because most of what we’ve gotten over the last decade has been part of a land and we’ve been conditioned to expect that from every ride.

For me personally I would like them to retrack the two ride tracks rather than a single track, it keeps WDW's space mountain unique from the other versions.

If they could also add some prop asteroids and planets, and a new re-entry tunnel at the end that would help modernise the ride while keeping the retro 70s feel.

I agree. Just retracking and adding some props would go a long way in getting me interested in riding it again.

Why not change the layout with a new coaster with some intensity to it?
They could if they wanted too, there's already a ride like that with guardians.

IMHO, If they keep the two tracks it keeps it different to the other space mountains.

Guardians is not intense at all. They could keep 2 tracks and build a single rail coaster with some ejector air time.

Many of us Disney fans prefer less intense coasters. This seems to bother you, but it’s a huge selling point for me and many others. Guardians is as intense as I can manage; in fact, it made me so queasy that I have only ridden it once and don’t plan to ride it again (same goes for Tron). I don’t want Space Mountain to be turned into the sort of thing you’re talking about. Such options already exist at other parks; they are not a big part of the Disney brand, and I for one don’t want them to be.

That's fair. It doesn't bother me at all. What I'm describing is not adding spinning or a launch to Space Mountain but adding some bigger drops with some air time that feels like it's trying to throw you out of the coaster.

I second this, I can’t do guardians at all.

The reason I always go to Disney over universal is I prefer low thrill rides over high intensity ones

I also feel like space mountain is a scary one for some young kids to go on for the first time and I feel like making it more intense would restrict who goes on it

I have no problem with that either, I was saying that as is I don’t a strong desire to ride it again and the minimum amount of work to change that for me would be a smoother track and more to look at while on the ride.

Also fair, and I didn’t mean to mischaracterise your stance. I would prefer them to limit whatever they’re going to do to just renewing the tracks while leaving the overall experience essentially unchanged. Sitting at the back (as I usually do), you already feel as if the coaster is trying to throw you out!

Could be, but I doubt Disney would penny pinch to the point of losing valuable capacity for a refurb (maybe I’m naive though!) I looked it up and there was something about a cell phone ban on Space Mountain - my guess is they’re going to try for a track that protects against projectiles.
The different space mountains have similar capacity. The 2 track original version in florida has single wide rows of seats. The other versions all feature 2 person rows like most coasters. This means you get the same capacity, and at a cheaper price for disney, a win-win for disney no matter how we fans feel.

For me personally it is less about two tracks and more about single-file seating. The smaller cars allow for tighter turns and are fairly unique among coasters. The two tracks in turn provide the capacity that the single-file seating misses.
I don't disagree but there is also a big drawback to the single wide seating. Not that this is a typical first coaster for a kid but, kids riding space mountain for the first time probably want to sit next to there parents or an older sibling and not feel alone. I know I did the first time I rode space as a kid, I was kinda scared to sit by myself not knowing what to expect.

Kids riding Space Mtn. already rode Barnstormer, SDMT, SDD, Big Thunder, and Cosmic Rewind. They’re good.

How do you know they already rode ALL of those??

Still only one of those is in the dark, it is a different experience that can be scary for kids at points. I also just don't get the point of keeping the single-file seating and two track coaster. Ive ridden both I don't really notice a difference between the two.

I still feel slightly uncomfortable with it as a 17 year old just because of how unusual it is. It makes me feel like something is about to go terribly wrong.
