Rumor MK Space Mountain REVISED in 2026? (One track? side-by-side seating?)

I think the kuka arm is too smooth and gets boring after a couple rides and no I’m not your typical thrill seeking teenager the ride is still great I just don’t think it’s that bad.

I have other issues with Forbidden Journey -- I don't think it's a great ride at all; far too much of the experience is the broom simulator and that's just boring -- but it was so rough the day we rode it that it was miserable.

I've heard other people say it's really smooth, so maybe we just happened to ride it right before it needed maintenance or something, but it was awful.

Rode in July. It absolutely hurts. What people say Matterhorn is, Space Mountain is to an extreme, maybe more. I'm glad it was the last ride of the night, because both me and my mom came off the ride dizzy and sore. Even trying to hold ourselves upright, it still threw us around like a rag doll.

Just rode the Matterhorn for the first time ever today. MK space mountain is smooth compared to the Matterhorn.

My unpopular opinion is both Matterhorn and MK's SM should be retracked. But only MK's should have a completely new layout and updated theming. Matterhorn is perfect as is just is to jerky. However I know there's issues with permits and stuff. While MK's SM has bad ride vechicles, a weak loading station compared to others around the world, and could just use updated theming overall. Plus they have plenty of space in the mountain to add a new track. Also they should bring in Singlerider to help.

They are both ancient, right there with Cony Island or the last month of Gwazi minus the speed
Coney Island Cyclone was built in 1927...so it is 48 years older....lol but point taken...
While I appreciate the DL version of space for it's vehicles and integrated sound, I think the track layout is a boring collection of banking inclined curves and nothing more... The Original WDW version of this attraction has always had a superior layout and theming and queue...it just needs renovation and updated tech. If they could retrack Space Mountain to keep the same layout but use the Disneyland style vehicles it would be perfect....I love the separate loading and unloading halls...feels more like you are in a different place....which was the original storyline of taking a transport from the space station you were on...back to earth ....in the future... It was fabulous...sadly few remember the original version anymore.... It would be great to use the animatronics left over from Horizons and repopulate the exit displays....and put the speedramp back....

Been on it twice and both times it was rough so either I am also unlucky or it is rougher than most rides. I don't even bother with it anymore.

This. I have my issues with Space at MK but Matterhorn is just terrible.

Yeah, I wouldn't ride it again. I know many people think it's an all-time great attraction, but I was not very impressed. It certainly wasn't remotely good enough to deal with how rough it was.

I think the fact that DL's is "smoother" is a flaw, not a benefit. The onboard audio and projections are much great and they should come to MK too, but the ride vehicle and layout at MK is IMHO far superior. Part of the fun with SM is being jerked around in the dark when you don't see what's coming.
I bet you like the Matterhorn too. I'm ready to man the wrecking ball.

If I'm not mistaken, they can't retrack Matterhorn anymore without having to tear down the mountain and rebuild it. Matterhorn is absolutely not up to modern clearance and evacuation codes and only remains because it's grandfathered in. If they were to go in for any work beyond a normal refurb, I believe they automatically would have to make it comply and that would just be a real challenge with Matterhorn.

As much as Space is brutal on your back lol & a tight squeeze to get in for your legs other than a retrack (because so many have claimed its needed and parts are welded together) i wouldnt want a smooth track. The ride is what it is and honestly unique for Fla and fun for a ton of people. The end is what gets me going around in circles multiple times lol. Disney feel free to eliminate that aspect but keep everything else

Significant portions of the Matterhorn have been re-tracked. It hasn’t been replaced all at once because there was an intentional decision to make it the Coaster of Theseus so that it remains the world’s oldest tubular steel roller coaster. And entirely new track means it’s definitely a brand new coaster.

That’s also not an accurate description of “grandfathering” and modernization requirements. They’re not that simple and they’re not that uniform.

The only ride that rivaled Matterhorn in roughness was the original Gwazi

Both are/were childsplay compared to the pure torture of many other coasters that have (fortunatly) left us... Cedar Point's Mean Streak, SFMM's Psyclone, Goliath at SFNE, Son of Beast at Kings Island... I would gladly marathon ride Matterhorn over going back in time and getting just one ride on one of those rides again...

I can only speak intelligently on Psyclone. It was designed that way purposely to beat you up like the original cyclone did! Cool coaster though.

Roughest coaster I have been on is Mystery Mine at Dollywood, that really smashed my head around and just did not feel great after riding it.

Happily do Matterhorn or Space Mtn vs that
