MK rope drop and dining reservations

But what about those who are in the park for early ADRs but are NOT hotel guests...they can't go on the attractions though, can they?

I know that during evening EMH, CM's are supposed to scan Magic Bands to confirm that someone is a resort guest before allowing them onto rides. I would imagine the same would be true in the morning.

That would make sense...they would almost have to as even non-resort guests can have MBs now. I'm a passholder and I have one and I would not necessarily be a resort guest at the time of my visit.

A quick follow up to this...

I realize those not eligible for EMH can't go on attractions, but what about stores and food and such?

For instance, let's say I'm NOT a hotel guest and not eligible for EMH attractions. Epcot closed at 9pm and there is EMH until 11pm. If I'm still in the park at 10pm, can I still buy food or shop in stores and eat in restaurants and such even though I'm not officially part of EMH?

Based on the fact that anyone with a valid park admission can eat in the park restaurants before or after park hours, I'd venture to say that any shop/restaurant that is open will gladly take your money ;) but don't quote me on that... we're going for the first time in 13 years next week, and we are staying onsite, so I don't have experience to draw from on this... but it doesn't make sense that those not staying onsite could eat dinner with a reservation that has them leaving well after park closing but wouldn't be able to buy a souvenir on their way out (assuming the shops are still open during EMH).

This was my thinking as well...hard to imagine they would turn down money for food, drink or merchandise just because you happen to be walking around or on your way out of the park even during EMH.

Interesting... so with the OP's inquiry in mind, it sounds like simply by making an early breakfast ADR on an a.m. EMH day, someone could already be in Fantasyland when the gates open to the public and be stationed by the desired location to jump in line for A&E the second the line was opened. I'd think the only way this could be prevented would be if there was some method of CM's scanning Magic Bands at the ropes to enter Fantasyland and Tomorrow Land with a hand-held device to ensure only resort guests gained entry before the rope drop processional reached them.

I can only say I am SO glad we don't have this whole Frozen frenzy to worry about, but I do feel for the moms and dads who want to make this happen for their little ones. Oh the pressure! Lol

Me and my daughter plan on leaving early if need be (even though we are all eat and runners anyway so we are likely to be done by 9). I'm just wondering about the mechanics of breakfast ADRs and early queuing for Frozen. The boys want to do something else, probably mine train or Pan. It was a middle of the night musing, maybe I should contact Disney direct....

You will miss all the princesses that way. To me it defeats the purpose of eating at CP. Though you can get signature and pictures with princess else where

I would think that every where is roped off to give everyone equal opportunity to get in line with Elsa and Anna. I think people were doing that and Disney put a stop to it but not sure.

The rope drop is one hour early on EMH morning so no one gets in the Lands before the slow rope walk on any day I have been told by cast working the rope. Opening show is also moved an hour early FYI and the drop is now earlier as of of a few days ago at 840 or 740 EMH I have also been advised. Must be to try to spread out the crowd.

So morning EMH at MK now begins at 7:40 am rather than 8:00 am and they do the opening show at that time? I'm happy to hear it. I really love the opening show and had resigned myself to missing it. But I guess the question remains... if the OP arrives around 8:00 for an early ADR at CP and walks out of there around 8:30ish, what measure is in place to block them from just walking into FL? The EMH rope walk will be long over, the general opening rope walk won't be taking place yet and resort guests will (I assume) be freely roaming Main St., FL and TL at that time. What will prevent them from just strolling into FL?

Last I heard a couple of weeks ago from front gate cast reservations are confirmed for early breakfast at the park entrance now. This used to be a bit lax and use the honor system on early dining but like most things abused by guests who think they are "special" stopped all that with the Frozen dash, now turned into a walk. Security began challenging people in the park that did not look like they were heading for breakfast but just loitering to beat the rope drop.

When we were there last June, I know for sure that at DHS and AK the CMs at the "early entry/breakfast" gate had an alphabetical list of everyone who had ADR's before official park opening. They were asking everyone their name, # in party, and reservation info before they would let them through the gate. I'm guessing it was the same at EP & MK as well but didn't witness it there. Do they not do that anymore?

I'm sure with Anna & Elsa they are MUCH more vigilant to make sure people have reservations before getting in, but there is no way to 'force' people to have breakfast as opposed to just taking on the $10 fee, unless they were to start going to a pre-paid thing where you pay the flat rate even if you no-show.
I can see this happening in the not so distant future and that would be a real shame. This A/E thing is making rope drop at MK an unworthy hassle and I truly hope it has died down by November by the time we arrive.

I feel the same, but in a way it is kind of good because everyone will be in line to meet them meaning the other rides will have smaller waits!

We've been unable to get Fastpass+ to meet them for our trip in September, but already had 8:10am ADR's for Crystal Palace on a non-EMH day. So if we finish breafast, can we head straight up to the rope at FantasyLand ? Do they drop the 'land" ropes at 9am the same time as the main entrance opening?

Yes you can head straight to Fantasyland for the rope drop. It may be a few minutes earlier than 9. Last week we were having breakfast in Gaston's at 8:50 on a non EMH morning.
