MK parking

The security lady at the entrance to Pop Century said once the MagicBand goes live the only way you are allowed to park in the any of the resort lots is to have an active Reservation. They will scan the band or RFID card. If no reservation, then you are denied access. BUT, she said if they mention they are coming there to JUST to eat, then she said they've been instructed to let them through. She said she hopes people will not take advantage of that.

She must be mistaken. People who stay offsite go to Chef Mickey's, too. Heck, people who live here sometimes visit the hotels. I do. :)

Getting there on a busy morning can be just as bad. It took well over an hour for me to get from the car to inside the park.

I will honestly never stay off property again after dealing with trying to get in and back from the parking lot.

I can see how it is supposed to be a journey, but standing in line with the sun beating down for a ferry isn't a really fun journey.
You are entitled to you opinion, of course. It probably just doesn't work for everyone. Myself, I shield myself from the sun by covering my head with several hundred dollar bills that I saved by staying offsite. Like an ice cube in a camel-back...it keeps me feeling cool.

I would think there is some solution to this. Annual pass holders??!!??
Solution to what? I'm sure that poster received bad information. They cannot limit access to parking to people who have bands. They're going to let anyone with a reservation in, just like they always have.

I don't think any changes will be made.

I totally agree that's why I said there would be a solution. Like maybe checking to see that a specific car load has resies or something to that effect. I completely realize that people not staying on resort property have to be able to get in and park for such things.

It may be "fun" in the morning or afternoon when it's an almost immediate board. It's another thing entirely at the end of the night, when you're tired and 30,000 other people are all trying to leave at the exact same moment. It quite frankly, sucks trying to get out of MK. Even on a "normal" night it can easily take an hour from the time you want to leave to the time you're actually driving away. Don't even get me started on a busy night, or a night when the entire monorail system goes down. (Been there for that.)

Can't be any more of a hassle than waiting for your resort bus and riding back to your resort with a bunch of tired cranky not to mention stinky people. LOL Oh Oh and don't forget waiting while they load the motorized wheelchairs on the bus

it was built so far away so AP holders can rant about how horrible and dreadful it is to take the monorail or boat over and to try and figure ways around it so Disney can enforce new rules to prevent it. this is not Disneyland as if WDW needs AP holders...it is the most visited theme park on planet earth.

but that's just my two cents.
Wow...don't know much about business eh?...over 33% of tickets are AP....losing those would be devistating to business; they only want more AP as it is guarentteed money regardless if you go to the parks or not...

Please don't. People like you are why I have a hard time finding a parking spot when I'm staying at the BLT.

EVERY time I park at the Contemporary there is 100+ parking spots available, EVERY time.

I guess nobody knows how to park for free at the GF without even presenting an ID.

33% where did you get that from? just asking
I actually asked the front gate people this once with the new system. One day they called me by name after checking in and I was surprised so I started talking to the guy for a minute about what information they collect and what shows up. I don't know how it exactly came up but it was in a convo about which APs are the most common and while he couldn't determine that he said roughly a 1/3rd of gate entrances are APs and around 50% are return customers (when I say return I mean like yearly vactions, not one here and there) so there a lot of information that pops up on that little thing they hold. They literally keep a record of your every move pretty much.

Just think how convenient APs are for them and why they want more of them. It's like people who get season tickets to sporting events. There are people out there that may get them and not even use them enough times for it to pay for itself. Some people may never even go at all. It ends up being a huge part of their capital. Same reason why a sports team set a goal for # of season ticket packages to sell cause you guarenttee you hit that capital level you need and everything else is bonus.

1. Yes it is touchy and low down.

2. Yes you may get away with it.

3. You are usually allowed 3 hours to shop or have a meal at a resort your not staying at.

4. How would you feel if you had to drive around for a hour or so to find a parking space at your resort.

5. They are starting to tow cars away. Saw it happening once at the CR.......2 commercial tow trucks, one with a mini van on the hook, Disney security there and no family or anyone looking like owner there to indicate it just maybe a brake down.

6. The rules are there to make my WDW vacation as much fun as possible and common manners would help us all.

7. I think this post was just to get people upset, just another troll.

Disney makes more money on people buying length of stay passes, Day passes, etc. Because they are likely to spend more money once they are in the parks. AP holders are visiting with some regularity and usually don't spend as much in the shops. I'm sure there are people that purchase APs that don't get there moneys worth but I would be willing to bet that is a very small percentage. I would be willing to bet that if you asked the bean counters what type of ticket makes them the most money it wouldn't be an AP.

We live in NJ and buy AP's when we plan two vacations in a 12 period. Generally we get 18-20 days of park hoping in. If we had to buy length of stay passes or passes without an expiration date we would be paying much more.

Where did you get these facts from? Just asking.
do the math! it wasn't from a WDW bus driver or some flunky working the MK gate. I take what CM's say with a grain of salt. I've been given miss information too many times by CM's that like to hear themselves talk.

I have done searches for stats related to AP's vs all other passes with no luck, so until there is documentation we can agree to disagree. I hope you will share the stats with us if you find documentation.
