MK Park Opening

DH are heading down to The World in late April. I really want to be at MK when the park opens. What time do we need to be there in order to observe all of the opening festivities? We are staying at CSR. Would it be better for us to take the bus or drive ourselves that morning?

Please help! I don't want to miss a thing!

CSR is one of the farthest resorts from the MK, so you have to factor that into your travel time too. According to Ourlaughingplace.com's travel wizard, it takes 18 minutes from door to door. Plus you never know how busy the bus stop will be. At CSR, I try to use the Bus Stop closest to the Front Lobby, as it gets picked up first, and I'd add at least 20 minutes to my time estimate, if not more.

I figure get to the bus stop 40-45 minutes before you want to be at the park, and you should be fine. Which means be at the bus stop an hour and 10-15 minutes before the park is scheduled to open.

Disney does recommend that you give yourself 1:30 to get from place to place. They're not really kidding. Plus, early is far better than late.

My husband and I were just there for New Year's and wanted to see the MK opening. We went a half an hour before normal park opening, and found out that we had missed it. There were morning extra magic hours that day, and they did the show at that time only. Shoot for getting there 20-30 minutes before the extra magic hours time (if they are happening) or before park opening (if they are not happening). It is a super neat little show. I can't wait until September when I get to take my new daughter to see it for the first time!
