MK - No Twinkle Trees?

Hi everyone,

We were just at Disney World (April 7-12) ... while we were in the MK at night, I don't recall seeing any of the "twinkle trees" or "firefly lights" in any of the tress on Main St. USA near the castle. Are these gone? Am I blind?

They took out the trees around the hub before the last re-hab. It's been quite a while, now.... they were removed around the same time as Wishes made it's debut.

When trees left...so did the lights.

Still have them at Epcot, though.

Ya know with all their BS lately I'm becomong less and less a WDW fan. :( Who feel they have the right to decide what magic stays and what gets replaced with total ________?

And I feel there are plenty of other trees and bushes around that could benefit from twinkle lights. Maybe Fantasyland, or L iberty Square. Could be pretty, and, of course magical.

A few lights ruin your trip?

They removed the trees for a few very good reasons:
1) Better viewing of the castle and castle shows
2) Better viewing of fireworks.
3) Better guest flow through the hub. (Both normally and during shows)
4) Better flow to the parades. (And better viewing of said parades)

If you think those improvements are outweighed by some lights ... wow ... I weep for humanity.

I would hope that the absence of some twinkling lights wouldn't ruin your trip or make WDW any less "Magical" for you. The Magic is in your heart...not the trees.

sigh.....

Can you never write a reply to someones comments without being snotty?

Sorry - but for a magical place on the web - you sometimes seem overly tetchy!

Hey ho

This post tells me that the removal of the trees is news to you. That means that you have not even seen what they've done to the hub. Why complain about something you haven't even seen? Why complain like it's the end of the world over something so trivial (and beneficial)?

Although I understand and appreciate the recent Hub works (based on DLP`s hub) I too will miss the lights - they are from childhood memories of my first visit - I have an image of them twinkling away with the castle lit all white (as it was back then)

I have no problem with missing them. Thats perfectly ok. But getting ... mad ... over them when its clearly better now then before is just strange.

aww...I'm going to be upset:( , those twinkling trees added so much decor to the castle and main street.

According to your profile (and I just noticed this goes for 1disneydood also), your last trip was in 2004. The trees and lights were removed in October or November of 2003. So, unless you didn't go to the Magic Kingdom on the last trip, you've already seen what the castle looks like without them. The recent hub rehab removed the planters entirely and eliminated the curb.
