MK: First or Last? This is my Question

I am more excited than words can express about my upcoming DW vacation. We are going for long enough to spend one full day on each park.
In my research I have found numerous people advising that you bring a first timer (my husband) to MK on the last day of your visit. Because if you do it first the magic is a little lost in the other theme parks for the rest of your days (or put differently: the MK raises the bar a little too high).
I am most excited about the MK and am unsure if I should ignore the advice and do it first anyway or wait and enjoy it the day before I leave, sealing my vacation with wishes.....

Do Magic Kingdom first, and Epcot last. You want to start with a bang.

When going to WDW, everyone thinks of the Magic Kingdom. So naturally, it is the park to start at. Epcot is still somewhat a vision of Walt Disney's with progress and peace, and it is just a cool place to end a vacation: nice restraunts, most relaxing of parks, and IllumiNations.

And also, your husband, if he is anything like my father and uncles, will probably enjoy Epcot or MGM more than the Magic Kingdom.

i normally visit MK last but it was my second park when i arrived coz it was xmas day :) .
every other time we have gone we always leave MK till last but heres what i do:

my holiday starts when i go to AK on my first day then MGM or EPCOT and last but by no means least its MK. on my last holiday i spent every night in MK for the fireworks. i always park hop by going to other resorts then from there getting a bus to AK or some where like that.

park hopping is one of my faves.

which park first?

 I cant stand it. I always have to go to MK first. I can hardly stand waiting on the trip down to Orlando. Then, I go there last thing before we leave. That way I have a really magical start and end to my vacation.!! Plus, you can always park-hop.:sohappy:

Maybe I will do both. I don't think we are going to get the park hopper option, so maybe, we can just get one more day park admission, do MK first day and then go back on our departure day (assuming we can get late flight).

If your tickets are not park hopper, the risk of saving your favorite park for last is that the weather may not cooperate with your schedule. How bad would it be if your special trip was "dampened" because of extremely bad weather on the day you saved for your most special park.

I know you can go in the rain, but you know it is different. If the weather is bad enough, the parades don't run, certain rides go down sometimes. . .

Go ahead and plan on Magic Kingdom first. I suspect your husband won't be disappointed in the other parks, as there are generally more mature attractions available to make up for less pixie dust at the other parks.

We do MK on the morning of the first full day we have at WDW. If we arrive mid afternoon, as we did recently, we go to one of the other parks and hit MK at 8:30am.

You know your husband better than anyone. I'd be asking myself these questions if I were in your position with a WDW first time spouse.

Is he a Disney fan at all? Say, if they release a classic on DVD, he makes a comment about wanting to get a copy? If he is a classic fan, he might appreciate MK more than the other parks.

Does he enjoy classic hollywood themed items? He may enjoy Studios more.

Is he a big animal lover? I mean, really big. If he is, he may like AK.

Is he interested in technology and an educational themed environment? Or lots of choices for different meals? Then it's Epcot.

If he is the type of spouse who will sense your excitement about MK, then maybe you should do it last, just based on that. Whatever you feel he will enjoy the most, save it for last.

Whatever you decide, you'll have a great time. Enjoy!:D

I agree with the others... a lot depends on your husband.

Personally MK is my favorite, and we usually start with MK and try to finish with Wishes there as well.

I couldn't imagine not going to MK on both our first and last day. I'd be too excited to wait for the last and too sad for it to be over on the first. Definately find a way to do both.

I think the "go to MK the last day" is really a suggestion for families with younger children. When my nephews went the first time to WDW (7 and 5), my cousins took them to MK the first day of the trip. The rest of the days when at Epcot or MGM the boys kept saying "can't we go back to Disney?" They just didn't understand that the whole place was Disney.

I agree with everyone else, get hoppers and visit the MK the first day and maybe in the evening of other days.

That's what we do! Gotta have the park-hopping option!

MK everyday! That's what we do! Once we've done all we wanted at other parks or anytime we have free time, we head over to MK! It is the most magical i think!
