Hey guys,

have done a search (before anyone yells at me!) but couldn't find this. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any pictures aerial or ground level of MK's fireworks launch site/sites? Have tried looking at satelite pictures myself but can't be sure from those pictures exactly where they are

Thanks in advance

Your really not saposta go back there but if you drive betweekn the Contem resort and where Space Mountain is and drive behind the MK you can see where they launch the fireworks, last time I did it, there was not guiard I dont know if that has changed, and the road takes u all the way down by SOG. If you have never been back there you should try to get back there. And if you get caught just tell them that you are new to this park and thought this was where the parking is..

But the launch site is sweet, I think they make some of the fireworks back there too because there is a big shead looking thing right next to the launch site.

Thanks that's really great! Have always watched the show from main st side of the castle and had no idea that some fireworks were launched from within Fantasyland! I assume those launched from there are the smaller flare type fireworks as opposed to the lager star burst type?

Once again thanks

Hi hooters dude...welcome to the forums. :)

Yes, there are five launch sites on each side of the castle. They fire ground bursts (fireworks with no launch charge) and small arials. There is actually one other launch location, found here:

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v...&lvl=2&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=3928899

If you zoom out, you can see that this is the island in the middle of the lake in front of Magic Kingdom. They use this launch site for the 4th of July and New Years Eve. This site launches the same display the main site (behind the castle) fires to make it easier for guests to view the show.

I can't show you pictures, but there are actually 8 (I think, Boo correct me if I'm wrong) other sites that are setup around the park for the 4th and New Years Eve shows for a 360 degree display. For the special events (halloween, pirates and princesses, christmas) these locations are pushed together near the castle for a 180 degree display to cut down on the number of roads that are closed off for the show.

Fireworks come from overseas from several countries. They are all shipped in bulk to Aneheim, where they are separated by show, repacked, and then shipped to Florida. None of the fireworks are made here in the US. Hope that helps clear up some misunderstanding.

Just a few more bits of information for you. ;)

I was looking on Live Search and couldn't find any launch sites for the 180 and 360 degree shows. Are they temporary or are they there all year like the launch site on that island?

According to boo, Wishes' devices are made in China and the U.S.
There are 8 other make-shift sites as you have said one of which I believe is from a train car on the railroad.

I know that this "other" launch site was the old launch site for fantasy in the sky before the show was actually at Magic Kingdom. This location is not used for every show but as I haven't seen the 4th or New Years show at Magic, it may be used then. (I have only seen both at EPCOT). This location is not used during regular, no-special occasion shows as boats are still in the Seven Seas Lagoon to view the show over Magic. As they have just expanded the main launch at Magic they might not use this other site (if they still use it at all). This site does not seem accesable (no dock or other access point) and by the growth around it, it does not seem well maintained. But please correct me if I am wrong, Boo52.

Thanks for the welcome cac2889

Have been coming for over 30 years and never realised the island was a launch site! I'm guessing they have to stop the ferries when the island is launching?

Thanks all of you

Wow! Live Search has some excellent resolution pictures. Much better (and more current) that Google Earth.

Theat site is still functional. Up until I believe October 16, 2006, this site was used for every special show which included 360 degree perimeters.

That's right...sorry...I don't know why I said that none of them were made in the states.

Thanks for clarifying that. But does anybody know how they would access this island to prep fireworks? There does not appear to be a dock and the only spot that seems most practical to access the island is buoyed (making up my own verbs:lookaroun ) off. Unless they just bring the boats close enough to carry the fireworks onto the island, but physically carrying fireworks over the water does not seem like the most practical idea.

Yep - they transfer them all by flatbed boat, then carry them across the island. I`m sure Boo will be here eventually to fill in the details.

While the shells do arrive from overseas in California they are shipped directly here to be repackaged. Before Remember, Disneylands was also repacked here and shipped back. Most of our stuff is made in china, but we do use a few domestic vendors.

We still use the Seven Seas Island Site for NYE and 4th shows. And as Marni said, flat boat to the island and hand carry to the launch area.

Thanks for the clarification. I always prefer the most accurate information be given to those that ask for it. Someone corrected me on the domestic vendors earlier. Gotta get my facts straight! :hammer:
