MK Entertainment rumors

Wonder how a 24-hour day will work, admissions-wise. If you stay all night, can you get 2 days for the price of one? :)

I think that's the general idea, but how many people can do that without some sleep...if you leave at 9:00 am to go back to get a nap and return again later in the afternoon, I would imagine they will charge another day to your admissions.

24-hour park operations have happened in the past. I believe Disneyland was open for a full 24 hours on Star Tours' opening day. IIRC, throughout the night sections of the park were closed off for brief maintenance and then re-opened.

As for those wondering whether MSEP could come to DHS, the current float storage building definitely couldn't accommodate it. I suppose the remaining soundstage *could* be used to house the parade, but I'm honestly not sure how much space MSEP takes up. It's also quite a trip from the soundstage area to the parade route, which would bring backstage traffic to a standstill for an extended amount of time.

I would guess that the park will probably close around 7-8pm on Feb 28th and reopen at 12:00am on February 29th. This would allow for a quick 3rd shift maintenance window, similar to the days when the park closes at 3am and reopens at 7am.

You can use your park ticket any time on Feb 29th from 12am to 11:59pm and only use 1 day.

Is the rumor still strong that MSEP will end at WDW around the Summer time?

I remember reading somewhere not to long ago that MSEP will no be going anywhere until at least 2013 or 2014...

I have read much here and on some of the DLR forums..... sure sounds like DLR is not going to have a place for the MSEP for quite some time.... some argue that DCA will no longer be able to handle the parade and the WoC due to the layout of the park....

I cannot remember why Disneyland park wouldnt want it there...but seems like there were reasons quoted to that end too...

So, my feeling (and that is all it is) is that WDW may actually inherit the MSEP.....which to be honest is fine by me.

Since WDW has four parks....you would think they would be able to come up with a plan that allows two night time parades to run nightly at two different parks.....MK and whatever they pick. Would love to see a night time parade at DHS or even EPCOT.....not sure if DAK could do it without causing discomfort to the animals though.

This is what I want to see happen! I wonder if MK would be able to alternate on different nights which to run -- MSEP on Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday and Spectro on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, or just move Spectro entirely to DHS. I think that would be the best choice if MSEP is indeed inherited.

It's not a matter of whether they can or can't run two nighttime parades at different parks. It's that they won't. They would have to seriously swell the entertainment (and maintenance) budget for a park to do this - and I seriously doubt they would be willing to do that.

Not to mention, there is little demand for two nighttime parades outside of the fan community. I would guess the average guest would say "We saw the light parade at MK - why would we watch it here too?" Only those of us who closely watch Disney entertainment would even acknowledge the difference between the two shows.

Well, I think it depends on the product. Two very different nighttime parades could still attract the average tourist to see both of them. I know DL is different in many ways, but they have two lights/water-shows running in two parks with Fantasmic and WoC. People seem to really want to see both and don't say: well, we have seen Fantasmic, so there is no point to see another nighttime water show over at the other park...

The difference being WoC doesnt require paying hundreds of entertainment cast members the way a parade does. To put on one parade costs thousands of dollars between entertainers, drivers, crowd control cast members, etc. Entertainment cast members would have to be brought in and paid specifically for the parade. Not to say that they couldn't do it if they didn't want to - I just don't think the motivation or incentive is there.

If this is true, why not move the electrical parade to Hollywood Studios while Fantasmic is under refurbishment to keep guests there after dark.

I m not sure if the radio triggering system used by MSEP is in place at DHS, and it might be cost prohibitive to install and test it for such a short time.

Radio triggering? I don't think they really do that anymore. From my understanding, there's the main underliner track playing on the park speakers and then the floats individual music comes from it. So whatever system DHS already uses for their parades can easily be used for MSEP.
