Believe me, Bonny, it sure doesn't seem funny to me! When MJ is grumpy or hard to calm down, what can you do to soothe her? It must be hard!

Nothing unless I want to drug her (and I can't justify drugging because I am hurting)... Of course today she kept wanting to be held, which then hurt me because she squirmed or hit..one of the hardest things about her type of autism is that she doens't understand the difference between types of touches... and never will, so you are as likely to get hugged as hit... and everyone on the planet (ok exaggeration, but it feels like it somethimes) judges you a bad parent because you can't teach your child not to hit....

Anyone who judges you in ignorance isn't worth a thought.

Wasn't it Luke who said that?
I just said hugs can be awkward on occasion.

There was a pretty good conversation about it that I missed.
You're right. I think you said it could be awkward.
I just wanted you to know that a hug can be so nice.
When words fail you, hug!

Yes, I'm familiar (in a general way) with the sensitivity to touch that many autistic children have. I think there is MORE awareness of, and consideration towards, special-needs children and their long-suffering parents. Nowhere near ENOUGH, though!

About halfway through. I especially love the "Where's MJ?" napkin incident at Chef Mickey's.
