There is a big difference!

Connor believes in a utopian society where no one drinks, swears, or does anything he finds uncivilized. Well, the real world doesn't work that way, and that is the truth. Whether it is right or wrong, that is the society we live in.

No, Connor realizes that the world is NOT a Utopian society and still refuses to partake in those activities that are contributing to the degradation of socitey. At least that's how I'm percieving it as.

Which makes him a much bigger person most people could ever dream of being.

Joe.. I dont think you are Kinda rude and nasty.. I was just saying how some people can be when they use it all the time no matter who is around... Love you....

No I understand, I've only been kidding... and I know what you mean

I hate when people are obnoxious with it and use it in public where it shouldn't be used, like last night we went out to eat and there was a family of four behind us, and my buddy dropped the F bomb a few times, then realized... the kids were like 8 and 4... so he turned and sympathetically apologized and said he really didn't mean to be rude... doesn't make up for it, but people who don't have any care really annoy me

ANNNNDDD.... Barry Manilow's Mandy is a fantastic song!

No! Just because something is, does not mean it must be! Why is this so difficult for people to understand?

So what if I strive to reach Utopian society? Is it against the rules to want a better tomorrow? Why do people look at what is and accept it?

Yes. That is exactly what I believe, in so many words.

Good. I was hoping I got that right. Probably because that's my outlook too.

One more reason to be creeped out... :lookaroun

I wouldn't say it makes him a much bigger person... I've said before... and I'll say it again, I respect connor's opinion and I'm really happy he is so against these things... however, he approaches them negligently... plus, Connor I'm not trying to make any type of derogatory statement, please know that... but when I was 15... there was a lot of things I swore I'd never do... ever... and I've done them in the past six years of my life... I swore I wouldn't drink underage cuz i thought it was immature... well, I do not abuse alcohol nor want to get back into that convo, but I did it... my girlfriend, who had a 3.9 in high school, a 3.7 at Tufts, was part of like every good after school group, did many hours of community service just to do it... and I mean, she's a saint... well Senior year, after prom we went to a party, I started drinking and she flipped out at me and refused to talk to me... I didn't have another sip, but she still didn't talk to me, well she ended up drinking her freshman year... people change!!! She's not a drinker, but she did drink... a few times... does it make it right... NO!!! but thats life!!!

So... Connor really just hasn't experienced the real world enough to know, I know he thinks he knows how it is, but he doesn't... heck I don't even know the half of the real world... I'm gonna be a senior in college next year... there's still so much for me to experience, and I believe in things now that I won't in five years...

I kinda strayed off my point which is... I agree with Michael, I REALLY do not want to offend anyone, but I have to back Michael here...

Prohibition-Failed
Puritanism-Failed
Swearing, drinking, etc. are all things that have been going on since the beginning of time. It is human nature, and it is frankly out of our control. People will be people. There will be bad people, good people, and people in the middle. That is a reality. Sure some things have progressed over the years, but in essense, they are the same. There will be wars, racism, etc. until the human race ceases to exist. So, while noble, a utopian society is a lost cause. There is no such thing as a perfect world, unless you believe in Heaven. Somehow, and I could be wrong, but I don't think God is gonna throw us into the firey pits of Hell for drinking a few glasses of fermented grape juice, brewed up barely, distilled spirits, or saying a few so-called "bad words".

I agree on both points. The next few years, you will learn a lot about the world Connor, and there is NOTHING wrong with that. It doesn't make you imperfect or anything negative, it makes you human. It is all a part of growing up.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE YOU'RE NEGLIGENT CONNOR!!! You literally just proved Michael and I's points...

WHO... WHO SAID WE'RE ACCEPTING THIS?!?!! WHO??? Dude, I'm gonna call my buddy up tomorrow and say... "you wanna play golf? I haven't played in so f****** long... I need to get out there" 1) how does that ruin society? 2) how does that make it appear as if I'm "accepting" a "dumber" worse off society??? I use these words because that's the person I am... Okay? That's how I talk? I've been on hundreds of job interviews.. I don't swear to them, and I won't there, but my friends make me comfortable and I'm gonna let a few swears go if thats how I OPENLY CHOOSE to speak...

Also... NO ONE HERE IS SAYING "WELL THE WORLD SUCKS AND WHATEVER THAT'S COOL WITH ME" Again, drinking is a part of society... On my campus, I'd say 95% of the campus drinks... What do you want me as a person to do??? I'm not supplying underage kids with the alcohol, so what do you want me to do??? Throw an anti-drinking parade??? I enjoy drinking.. I like to go to parties and have fun, I LIKE DOING THAT... I don't look at it like "i have a problem" because I don't NEED to drink, I OPENLY CHOOSE TO...

So... what do you want ME to do about my college campus and the other 494358340850348534 campuses in the world??? Cry because too many people drink? I'm not saying "ITS OKAY, IT'S HOW ITS GONNA BE" But I, nor you can change the world... We're not "accepting" a freaking thing... We're choosing to live our lives as we want to live them... you live yours your way, I'll live mine my way... if underage kids drink.... I can't do a thing about it... So don't tell me i'm "accepting that" or saying "that's how it is so it should be that way" Cuz i'm not

Thank you...

Connor I hate to say it, but... I guarentee, I seriously guarentee by the time you're 21... you'll have at least gotten buzzed, if not drunk... AND DON'T THINK I'M SAYING ITS RIGHT OR ACCEPTABLE CUZ I'M NOT!!! It's life...

YES... YOU can control that, and I certainly hope you never do... I hope you don't, cuz that'd be very honorable, but ya know what.. if you go to college and you drink and get drunk... I (nor anyone else here) would think any less of you... think about when you were 10 years old... think about how much you've changed since then... well... people change the most in their later teens...

I know people who never ever have drinked, very very honorable of them, but I have friends who every weekend go out and drink a lot... I don't look at either as being better than the other... thye're people making life decisions and I respect that...

if you cannot respect that... I don't think that makes you a big person at all, it kind of makes you shallow... you need to open your eyes, and stop thinking just because I don't have a problem with underage drinking that I'm "accepting this horrible society we live in" I accept my life, and I love my life... and I'm going to live it the fullest (and by that statement I don't mean by drinking... I mean by doing what I want to do... and living my life the way I want it to be lived...)
