Oh Bunny!
I was just thinking about you.
Not exactly beach weather is it? :(
Sorry you're not having fun.

It's been raining buckets all day... we did try to hit the outlets earlier, but my nephew had a meltdown, so we've been sitting around all afternoon, just waiting for dinner. Blah.

There's something so much worse about being bored on vacation than being bored at home.

I am glad I brought my laptop, though. It's nice to talk to someone else for a change. Plus, I don't know how I would be able to catch up when I get back to work on Monday! I'm allready going to be behind from taking the day off on Friday. But it can't be helped.

So how's everyone?

I'm okay! :)
It is a long, boring Saturday, though.

Not just problems, Disney Problems.

It seems she's pi$$ed that I'm taking away her precious baby boy for his birthday, and she's taking it as a personal attack from me.

Oh dear.
*sighs*
These kind of stories always remind me of the kind of mother-in-law I don't want to be!
Grown people should be able to celebrate birthdays anyway they want to. As long as mother gets to hear from her child and see him sometime near the actual birthday, either before or after the day, she should have no complaints. It is his day!

Maybe she can be converted!

If I'm not being too nosy Susan, how old is your son?
How long has he known her?

I went thur that except it was on Mother's Day. Not fun but than I got to complain that he ruined my Mother's Day:mad: Now he complains because his mom has been gone for 15 yrs.. I didn't get along with her at all or his dad. But I know he loves me so that is that.

Sigh... She's been like this for the past 8 years, so I'm not surprised that she's this way now. Would you believe this is the first time EVER that I'm going to be seeing my DH for his birthday? They've always done this family-exclusive thing Every. Single. Year. But now that we're married, I was just so happy I'm going to get to see him. And it was HIS idea to go to Disney! Sheesh. :brick: :brick: It's left this frosty undercurrent in the air these past few days... anyway...

I'm sure that you'll be a wonderful Mother-in-law. Did she book the hall yet??

Hi Susan!

It seems like everyone has their stories, doesn't it? No family is without them. And don't get me started on how we're spending Mother's Day this year.

Okay.
First I have to say this is the scariest mother-in-law story I've heard in a while!
Go on your trip, have a great time, and she'll just have to get over it!

Thank you, Bunny!
We went to look at the hall across the street. It's really nice, but it only offers a 4 hour reception. Since she will be having the ceremony at the same location, that won't work, because it doesn't allow for photog time.
But the good news is, we spoke with the caterer who services that hall and when I explained our time problem he told us his other location would allow us either the 4 hour reception at the same price as the first place, with an additional half-hour for the ceremony at no additional cost. Or, a 5 hour reception for only an additional $2 per person. We're going to see this place on Tuesday night. I'm hopeful and we all love this caterer and have heard great things about his food. So we will see!

I know what you're saying Susan.
It's really, really hard to let go - especially when you think he may be making a mistake.
I wish I had words of wisdom, but I can only tell you that you brought him this far and hopefully what he's learned from you will see him through this.
If it doesn't go well for him, may he learn from it and grow as a result.

I think my biggest fear is that he will get out there and then she won't want anything to do with him and he won't have the money to go or do anything about it.

My mother-in-law's been gone for 10 years now.
She did not like me at all in the early years.
But as the years went by she grew to appreciate me and we were very close by the end of her life.
Just to let you know, there's hope! :)
