So, we had a really busy weekend. On Saturday we found a REALLY cheap Armoire for our basement. It had a few nicks and scratches in it, but nothing that couldn't be touched up with some wood polish. So we hauled it home, and Marc and his brothers hauled it to the basement... dragging mud with them the whole way, since it had rained. SO we had to dissasemble the TV and VCR, Tivo, and all the cables, not to mention moving all my tapes and DVDs off our current TV stand so we could send the it home with his brother. (who coincidentally needed a TV stand)

So I decided that I'd run home from work over lunchtime yesterday to clean the house. Perhaps put some of the stuff away, scrub the carpet, or assemble my new shampooer to clean the tracked mud off the floor.

I didn't get 1000 yards from work, when I hear a *SNAP* noise from my car. I thought it was someone else's car... then it sounded like I was dragging something. I thought I had run over something and pulled to the side of the road. Then I heard a rattling and my car felt unstable, and I thought that maybe I had gotten my first blown out tire.

I managed to get into a driveway of a corporate center off the main road, and the car just stopped. It was still running, but it wouldn't move.

I put my hazard lights on, and climbed out. All my tires were in good shape, and I wasn't dragging anything. So I wanted to try to move the car out of the driveway, lest somebody come flying in, not see my car and plow into me. I put it in neutral, coasted around the corner... and stalled in the middle of another driveway. A guy was trying to get out, so he came over to offer help. He suggested putting the car into a lower gear, and I was able to coast up past the driveway, but not without another loud *SNAP* noise.

I called up work, and explained to them that I wasn't coming back, and arranged for someone to handle my prodcing duties for me. Then I called up AAA, and had to sit on the curb by the car for the next 3 HOURS while waiting for them to tow me to the service center. I could have walked back to work, since it was only a few streets away, but I had to stay with the car. So I sat.... and they called to say that it'd be another 45 minutes.. :brick: :brick: :brick:

Finally they came, and we headed down, dropped off the car, and headed back. So I missed out on a LOT of work yesterday.

I hate car problems!
So what was wrong, or haven't they figured it out yet - sounds expensive!

So, Marc had to drop me off at work this morning... at 8:00.. I was waiting for someone to come online to talk to!
Sorry - I've been on for a while - just trying to finish up my TR.
Sounds like everyone's having a miserable week but me - I feel so left out...

That's so strange! Are they sure it's your car?

Yes! I don't know what to say... I mean, I'd be thrilled to not have to pay $3-4,000 for a new transmission, but I'd hate for them not to find something, and have my car break down again because they didn't fix it in time.

He's at work... but I did explain it to him yesterday. Unfortunatley cars are the one thing he has no idea about. Plumbing, electricity, comuters, yeah. Cars.... no clue.
Dave used to be pretty good with car engines, but now that everything is so computerized, he's pretty much in the dark. Did the car smell funny or anything when that happened?
