I asked a lady at WalMart today, but I'm not sure that she knew what she was talking about. She said that you have to have digital cable for a DVR, and some other kind of cable (?) for a Tivo.

I don't know. Ours is DVR and is part of our digital cable package. It's great! Not only is it simple to record things, but you can rewind something as you're watching it. Even a live show, like the news! That's pretty amazing!

I have to agree with you on that - not exactly experts in their field! I'm going to have to research this some more. I'm thinking of getting a DVR as the family gift for Christmas, but I don't want to get it if you have to have cable for it.

Let us know what you find out. Since I don't have cable I won't need one if you have to have cable. Does that make sense. It doesn't to me.:hammer:

Agreed...but I'm gonna bet a pretty penny that you need cable for it to work. Just a hunch. Try somewhere like Best Buy. They should be able to help.

I just did a little research on "Howstuffworks" and it looks like a DVR can covert an analog signal (like from an antenna or cable) to the digital format that it needs. Guess we could invest in one then! :sohappy:

It really does that?
That is great!
Let me know if you do it!
