Mini-Photo TR: Stratford
Stratford is a relatively small town that's just-over-locally famous for its theatre. Yesterday the English department went to see "To Kill a Mockingbird". I thought the play was very well-done, even rivaling the book AND movie, IMO.
I had to dart across the aisle and snap this on the fly:
City Hall, which I think was built in the early 1900's.
This clock stopped a la Back to the Future on 12:39 pm. More on that later...
We (meaning me + 5 girls... interpret that as you may :lol: ) were the only ones in here, considering someone turned on the "OPEN" sign right when we got to the door. Very good peppercorn burger. Everyone else in the 60+ group just had some fast food.
War memorial, which all Ontario towns seem to have...
As an aside, Stratford is so named from Shakespeare's hometown, Stratford-on-Avon. About 95% of the locales are named after his plays or locations, Othello's being one example.
Since I seem to try a good picture every time I pass a memorial...

This beautiful walkway alongside the Avon River is just one thing I didn’t expect.
I looked back up the hill, and there were a lot of flags available in one shot. So, me being one to never pass up an opportunity… :lookaroun
I guess I’m so used to ugly corroding Lake St. Clair break walls, I didn’t expect quintessential riverbanks like this. :lol:

So, whilst in a dress store (5 girls. 1 guy. Remember that), there was a fairly big power outage across the whole town. Luckily, it was about an hour before the performance, and it came back on with about 10 minutes to spare.
There’s at least 4 theatres around downtown Stratford, and while this isn’t the main one, it’s really very pretty nonetheless. No pictures during the performance, obviously, plus I had to check my camera bag at the door anyway.
And just to wrap things up, here’s a little idea of what happens when a restaurant kitchen fire, power outage and fender-bender all happen on the same block (no joke!).

Dan I saw a park for you in CA. We were on our way to San Fransico when I saw a park that was full of rollercoasters. I have no idea what it was, but there were definetly a lot of coasters in that park! I wasn't fast enought to get a picture so you'll just have to take my word for it.

I was planning on taking a picture of it as a special part of my TR just for you.....but I was to slow to find my camera and the next time we passed it was to dark.
