I love having my other special needs mommies here, other people can be sympathetic, but it's hard to understand unless you've been there...

Where is the online autism educvation thingie at?

Been there, done that, hugs.....

It helps to keep each other sane...relatively...

It's autismtoday.com. You have to pay for it, but I need to warn you, Bonny, they promise to send you CDs of the lectures you choose, only they never get around to it :( . I've tried three times to have them send the CDs (12 total), and I only got one that had completely UNREADABLE slides on it. Sooo, I am sticking with viewing them online (which you can do 4 times each), and taking notes like mad. I'm sick of dealing with them on the phone.

Thanks for the hugs - looks like you finally caught up!

Yes it does. Thanks for the warning, it's not like I have any $$ to spare anyway...plus MJ is so different in her presentation that a lot of stuff on Autism just doesn't apply to her...

Well, I was looking at the lecture on gluten and casein free diet. I know you have mentioned a corn allergy, but is there any indication of intolerance to these things? I know MJ is on a feeding tube, but I was thinking of her meds...
One of the things that struck me about this lecture was the slide describing traits she found online of heroin addicts:
-In their own world (self absorption)
-Inappropriate reactions (giggling when upset, for example)
-Stereotypical behavior (i.e. rocking)
-Bizarre preoccupations
-GI problems
-Insensitivity to pain
-Postural Insecurity (not sure what this means)

Sound familiar? The theory is that these gluten/casein proteins aren't breaking down completely in the gut, creating these 'opioid' peptides that cross the blood/brain barrier and mess with proper neural function.
Sorry for the mini-lecture; I just found it interesting. Joel's tests indicated high intolerance of these proteins, so he may be a good candidate for the diet. Putting him on it - not so easy.

ITS BILLY!!!!!

Billy, don't loose my number, Look it up.... Phil Collins!

I'm here, had a fallout here, I'll be back later after lunch!!!

Actually, Rick, it IS Ricky...it's by Steely Dan :p

Actually...:lookaroun ...I think we're all right. I think we're thinking of 2 different songs. There's "Billy, don't lose my number" by Phil Collins and "Ricky, don't lost that number" by Steely Dan.
So, how did this debate start again?? I don't remember
