Welcome back @ChuckElias !! I see you are back on the board! Hope you had a great trip despite your nervousness!
What @Bolna said! Hope it was a blast!
Thanks, guys. It was a wonderful experience, despite being locked out of 3 of the venues that I really wanted to visit (Alcatraz, Volcano Nat'l Park, USS Arizona Memorial) due to the gov't shutdown. Almost everything else about the trip, however, was very positive. It was also interesting to talk with other passengers about their impressions of Princess (we met some very dedicated Princess customers) in comparison with other cruise lines. We met a few people who were on their first-ever cruise; but most of the passengers that I talked to were very experienced travelers. So we had some really good conversations about how cruise lines compare to each other. Our weather was nearly perfect, as well.

My wife and I (at 47 years old) were WELL below the average passenger's age on the ship. I saw a total of about 25 children on the sailing. It was an older crowd, to be sure!

I have voluminous notes about the ship, the food, the islands, etc. Plus a thousand or so pictures. I'm not sure what I'll do with it all yet. I won't post a report here, since it's not DCL. But I may do one and post it somewhere else, and then share a link.

It was definitely interesting to see a different cruise line and compare it to what we know so well with Disney.

I'm thinking I'll write a review of Allure and park it in the "Other Places" section. I talked with Tammy about this some. I could post it in the TR section then let the mods move it. Created a link.... ;)

Great to hear that you enjoyed the trip. I have only heard good things about Princess. It seems that you did get on with your fellow passengers despite their old age! ;)

I would love to read more (and see pictures!). I do think that you could certainly do a comparison review here on the cruise board. I don't think that would be off topic.

@sweetpee_1993 I had no idea that there was a "other places" section here! I sometimes wish we had a cruise trip report board. I have read so many WDW trip reports by now that I am much less interested in them. But I love cruise TRs. It would be lovely to have them all in one place. Or even just a sticky thread here on the top of the board with links to all the TRs. Of course someone would have to maintain that...

It would be nice if the mods let you at least put a link here because I would definitely want to see both of those reports.

Thr cruise reports are becoming as numerous as the WDW reports were back when we all started posting our land adventures. Not surprising as the cruises really gain in popularity as people give them a try. I'll shoot Steve a message and see if there's any way to get a dedicated DCL trip report section going. Maybe he could also add an "Other Cruises" section similar to the Uni, Sea World, and Other Places boards. I know after we started cruising we definitely took longer looks at some of the other cruise lines. It's just taken us a while and a family obligation to get us to actually try someone else. LOL!

Great! Yes, with the two new ships more people can go on a DCL cruise every year. And it seems that the cruising industry as a whole is still growing. So more interest in general! Thanks for getting in touch with Steve!

Just sent him a message. I asked for consideration for a DCL TR section, an Other Cruises section, AND perhaps an Other Cruise Reviews section. We'll see what Steve thinks. At the very least I think the DCL TRs and Other Cruises could benefit from their own dedicated spaces. Crossing my fingers for all 3, tho!
