Mitsukoshi renovations?

I just got back from Mitsukoshi, having last been there in 2016. Mikimoto is gone, and about 1/5 of the store is missing. Is it undergoing renovation? Or is this the new layout?

It's still a great place, as usual, but the layout was a little jarring, especially with how packed it gets.

Yep! I was there over the weekend with my wife and we said the same thing. When we walked in, it didn't seem so bad, but it was pretty warm in there. My wife said, "It feels like they didn't turn the A/C on." It was a tad stuffy in there.

from what I was told it is going through a refurbishment, wasn't told a completion date. I believe its been 10 years ish since its last big overhaul but I could be mistaken.

It seems to me at least that there is even a bigger selection of mostly clothing in the "new" section that was opened when the front was closed. I briefly chatted up a manager last week while he was straightening strollers outside and he (1) confirmed it was a refurb and (2) wouldn't give me a completion date.

Great. Glad to hear that it's temporary. The selection was great as usual, but the atmosphere was lacking, along with space for the crowds.

It sure appeared to be temporary, but one never knows these days!

Just got home last night from a 5 day trip. Boy, those changes did not look like a temporary refurb to us. The walls look awfully heavy-duty to only be removed sometime later. But it would be wonderful if they were. The feel of the store is totally destroyed. I felt like I was in a closet.

I would love to see more anime merchandise be brought into that store....

I am just surprised that we don't see them bring in merchandise from the overseas Disney parks that not that many guests are going to be able to get to and at least have a chance to purchase merchandise from DLP, TDL/TDS, HKDL & SDL in the countries pavilions..

They also have a showcase for Grand Seiko now if you are into watches . I had to fight really hard not to get one I will have to steer clear from that part of the store next time I visit because I might not be so lucky.

Any new updates or pictures? Wondering how much it will be changed. This is always a store we can spend hours in, and already liked the way it was set up, hope it doesn't look too different.
