Mission: Space's Alterations

That's a good point. It could be the sun, but all i know is that i really am looking forward to this ride. If it's anywhere near as innovative as Tower of Terror was, then all this wait will be worth it, not to mention the help it will give Epcot.

I'm pretty sure that the big red ball is mars and the smaller planet is either Venus, or one of Mars' moons. Most likely Venus, because Earth is there too and they are all next to each other in reality. Kind of makes sense. I don't like how the smaller planets have detail while the big red one doesn't. Oh well, we'll see...

I've always thought Venus has a green tint to it, and Mars should be a lot smaller if it is Mars. I don't think it has anything to do with the ride, just for looks. The look of Imagination or the Living Seas doesn't have much to do with the ride. EX. The Living Seas looks like waves and water, the outside of Space looks like space. Unless the big sphere is the sun, and the other sphere is Mars, that could make some sense.

The larger of the smaller planets I believe is Jupiter...

Earth, Mars, Jupiter...all 3 are next to each other.

Storyline?????

I'm being slightly less vague than Disney has been re: this attraction. Anything more than that is speculation... [/QUOTE]

From what I recall it will be a training area for future space exploration. I tryed out some of the interactive games that will be around after the ride, but we only saw a few things having to do with the ride itself. We can all hope the storyline is great!!!!

Change is good. Change is wise.

I like it a lot more now... Im just wondering what that circle curb in front of the building is...

I'm not even going to try to fathom which planets are displayed on M:S--but a moon of Mars is out of the question (both phobos and deimos are rather small and pathetic, looking more like asteroids than planets). I'm still betting that the travel is interstellar with either a starting or ending point on Mars--a hyperdrive doesn't make sense for travel within a solar system.

They do look quite cool, though :dazzle:

I read by someone on some past posts that Disney chooses to keep the outside building appearance looking unfinished until the inside is done that way people don't get anxious about why the ride is not open. With this sudden flury of work that the photos seem to show, could it be that they might actually open on time?.....either way i will be there for the thrill.......at Epcot!

The attraction is ahead of schedule and will open early. Apparently they tested out the ride and didn't run into nearly as many problems as they allowed time to fix.

I believe they are going to phase out the compaq brandname in favor of all HP brandnames over the course of a few years, but dont take my word for it, my best friends dad is only a VP at HP

that is what i assumed. one small peice of evidence tosupport this theory is that if you go to www.compaq.com, it redirects you to thenewhp.com and if they were going to keep the compaq name going, i would think that it would get its own website.

I think that would be smart. HP is a much bigger and slightly more recognized name, plus.... as you imply, Compaq is owned by HP now, so why not go with the parent company.

Spiser-man.

The sponsor will be Compaq......Heres why

Though Hewlett Packard Bought Compaq computer in one of the biggest mergings of computer related business insome time, the sponsor officially will be under the Compaq brand. Hewlett packard is a manufacture of mainframe computer systems for commercal and Bussiness use and recently entered the PC market. Compaq computer manufactures Personal computer for the home market and small Businesses and has been making PCs longer that HP. Since the sponsor agreement is designed to give Disney money to operate the attraction, It is also designed to give a picticular sponsor exposer to the public(Guests) to promote ( Advertising) there picticular Product., However seeing the Compaq brand on the attraction would put the brand in the mind of a Guests and isn't why they bought Compaq , to increase there market share

Any compaq sales will generate revenue to the parent company and that is the purpose for the purchase to generate revenue to HP from a market they had a smaller share of.

so this is why it wouldn't be changed to HP. Consider this... It would be like having The Ride works, one of the rumored manufactures of the the Mission Space ride vehicle be the sponsor. there would not be much value from the dollars spent in return to them.

Its such a sponsor as Compaq? I thought i heard somewhere and studied that Mission Space was going to be sponsored by Compaq but they left or something. It was from the same source that said Spaceship earth is drifting from AT&T. I dont know exactly, i think they r doing pretty good with them, The World of Motion's sponsor was Originally GM, and decided to make something different, Therefore where World of Motion's upgrade (Test Track) is it stayed with General Motors.
