Mission: SPACE

See, the problem with that is, quite a few M:S CMs have the IQ of a pineapple.
true statement right there. Rancid pineapples, or pinksocks perhaps? HA.

mission: space isn't bad at all. Just keep your eyes opened and watch the video. I am a thrill ride junkie, it's enjoyable. People really either love it or hate it, i don't think many people are indifferent about it.

and orange has NEVER changed. It's the original, with 2.4 g's, spinning at 36 MPH. Green team replaced two original versions. It's milder than Star Tours IMO. And Don't go on either one if you are claustrophobic.

I enjoyed the ride but I dont think it was the greatest like everyone talked about when it first opened. I went on a couple times....I wont really go on anymore because I fear people throwing up:hurl:. If I saw that, it would probably ruin my trip so I skip that ride. After I get off the time capsole I go running (literally) for the exit so I dont see anyone get sick. I have heard a lot of horror stories. I dont get sick on anything thank god.

It's weird, but Mission: Space Orange (or any other centrifuge) is the only ride anywhere I will not try. And I'm not scared of motion sickness (well motion sickness for myself... I don't particularly want to see anyone else in my cabin :hurl:) I'm scared that all the fatty food I eat will catch up with me and give me a heart attack at age 24 while I'm on that ride. I've just convinced myself of that.

But I'll go on anything else at least once.

Crazy.

I do love Green team though, I ride several times a trip.

I think it all depends on how much spinning rides bother you. I know some thrill junkies who ride the most intense coasters on the planet, but Teacups bothers them. If spinners don't bother you then M:S won't bother you.

If you're a thrill junkie and in good health, go for it.

My DS and I have been riding since it opened, we've never even considered wasting our time on the green version - Orange all the way! :D

I had the same thought until my last trip. I went by myself with my son who is very conservative when it comes to thrill rides. I was pleasantly surprised by the green version. You still got the sensation of motion, but it was much more gentle. So, if you ever notice a short line for the green version or have just gorged yourself on a high end meal and don't feel quite up to the orange version, I wouldn't hesitate to give the green a try. That being said, my next trip is with a big group and I'm going with the thrill junkies to the orange side.

I rode when it first opened, and won't do it again. I seem to have a slightly different problem with it than most- still related to the G's it had, but I didn't feel dizzy.I started to feel so much pressure from it that it hurt, which in turn caused a panic attack. When it was over, I had a headache for awhile.
I usually love thrill rides - I've never had a problem with any roller coasters. I probably made it so much worse in my mind b/c of my panic attack, but I still can't bring myself to go on again, even on the green side.

DH, who doesn't like roller coasters or any thrill rides usually, loved it. (He's always been really into anything involving outer space.)

Orange all the way!! :sohappy:This is probably my favorite ride of all time. Like everyone else has said, just follow the instructions. Keep your eyes on the screen at all times, stay calm, focus on slow calm breathing, and enjoy! Oh, and hit the buttons when you are supposed to or you will crash and burn. :lookaroun

I ride M:S as many times as I can while there (along with SSE of course).
As for getting sick,it does happen, but mainly because someone looks away from the screen or closes their eyes. The very first time I rode it a six (or maybe seven) year old kid was in my ship. This kid was chewing on some pizza through the entire pre-show and finished his last bite as we were climbing into the cabin and he had to stow his bottle of Mountain Dew in the under seat netting. He was riding with his Dad who didn't seem to realize this may be a bad idea. :brick:My friend and I thought a protein spill would be imminent but all was well...I was pretty impressed, oh, and it was his first time riding.

The last time a rode it I was alone because the friend I was with had a really bad experience on the ride...but, again, the instructions were not followed because she was concerned about her son that was on the ride and kept looking at him instead of the screen. Anyway, after waiting forever because the single flyer line succumbed to the green team , I got to ride with 3 teenage girls...early teens. They were being their early teen selves all through the pre-show and I just had to shake my head and giggle too. I'm sure we looked funny, I'm a 6'3" big guy and I'm riding with these 3 little girls and I'm chuckling at their silliness. So we get in the cabin and they're remarking about the airsick bags and I tell'em the last time I rode I had to use one and I still have it as a souvenir...so now they were laughing but with an air of fear (I love joking with kids :goodnevil). Things were fine through the launch but when we hit orbit and headed towards the slingshot around the moon they were not liking it as much. So as we start the g's in the sling shot one of the girls (who is sitting right beside me) screams "OH MY GOD I"M GONNA P-E-E!!". To which I replied, "PLEASE GOD NOT IN HERE!!" Everyone erupts in laughter and all was fine from that point.

So, the point from the stories...just don't freak out, follow the instructions, and for everyones comfort please ensure you are riding with an empty bladder. :lookaroun

Since when does Mission Space have "under seat netting" for personal item storage? I only recall there being a large glove compartment-like "storage bin" located in front of the crew member, under the console (in front of the rider's knees.) Was I missing something?

HAHA, I think you are right?! I think the under seat netting is on Soarin'? This happened in 2005 and all I remember his him having to stick his drink somewhere. I never take anything with me on M:S so I guess I don't know where you stick things.

I can't even ride in the backseat of a car without getting motion sick but orange team doesn't bother me at all. If you do what you are instructed (Watch the screen, do not look right or left, face forward with your head back at all times etc.) you will be fine. I think everyone should try orange team once.

I've been on the largest loopiest craziest rollercoasters in the world and doesn't bother me a bit but I CANNOT ride the Teacups...that being said, I can ride the orange team on M:S as long as I keep looking at the screen and don't close my eyes or look away so you should be fine

Like Elonwy said, I have been on the world's tallest and fastest roller-coasters in the world, and M:S doesn't bother me. The only ride that has ever disoriented me is the Sun Wheel at DCA. That is the scariest thing (for me) I've ever been on.

My daughter was 5 at the time of her first Disney trip and she loved this ride (the intense version) so much that it's the only thing she remembers about that trip!
