There is a differnce between knowing how to administer CPR, and doing it

I am CPR certified......but I am not sure I could do it

A situation like that would be rather tramatic to a cast member, or anyone involved directly.

There is such a thing as being scared stiff.

Good point. I used to be CPR certified, but that certification expired and I haven't found the time to be certified again. But, when I was certified, I always feared what would happen if I was faced in a position where I needed to use it. I always feared that I wouldn't be able to perform. Luckily, I haven't needed to test it.

It is something they offer for free at work......

It is easy for the press to say "It took 90 seconds until blah blah blah" but we have no idea what was going on in the background.

Yeah, in that 90 seconds, they also had to clear the area, deal with crowd control, etc. Plus, was the cm that did the cpr the one working at that exact location? Or did they have to get him from another part of MS? It could have taken some time to get someone to be able to do it. 90 seconds isn't too horrible of a response time, imo.

and you know, whenever an emergency happens, the first thing people do is crowd around to see what happened.

Very very true. We always joke on my ambulance when we pull up to a scene. We sometimes ask people "where is it?" .

Actually, maybe it would be a good idea for Disney to require certified CPR training for all CMs. With all the training they go through, it shouldn't be much to add a CPR class to the schedule.

I took a CPR class in high school, and unfortunately have forgoten much of it, but I would gladly take the class again.

Of course, in no way am I inferring that a CM's lack of CPR training caused this tragedy. The AP video just brought it to mind, and I think it might be a good thing to further ensure the safety of the guests and workers at the parks.

EDIT: And just as I read the article, Disney does offer CPR training.

Well 3 minutes to respond after RCES found out this was a critical call with the child not breathing veruses a call of a sick person? Sounds like they busted some humps getting across the park.

I cant fault RCES or Disney here, sounds like everything was done correctly.

From the article:

A Disney employee explained what's happening 18 seconds into the phone call.

That seems normal.....

Now, more than 90 seconds into the 911 call, the dispatcher begins instructing the worker to tell another worker how to do CPR,

That does not seem like too much of a delay. Granted, seconds are precious during an emergency of this nature.....but 90 seconds, that is pretty fast.

Well the parents should have known better. Maybe with their next child they'll learn from this.

Besides, at least that's one less person in the world. There's already too many.

I couldn't decide on which one of your moronic posts to comment on, so I will just say you are a freaking idiot. You are really rude and I hope Steve blocks you from posting.

Steve is in the UK and likely still asleep right now. When he logs on in the morning he will take care of things. Though adding a couple of extra moderators wouldn't hurt. In the meantime, just ignore him. The more attention you give, the more idiotic he will become.

Szaffar: you sick idiot. Your are the most vial troll I have ever seen. I did not want to see that.

I don't think we should close the thread because this idiot ruined it. He should just be banned, and we'll continue our discussion.

*EDIT* Sorry for quoting him.
