Stop living in the past. Horizons is dead and done. It's on the donezo list.

As long as people are alive who remember what many of us consider the best dark ride in the history of WDW, it will be brought up. You're right though. We should live in the moment and pressure management to build another awe inspiring ride for the next generation with Horizons as the figure of merit.

Space isn't a bad ride, it's just not Horizons... I agree it should be "Star Toursafied" and give guest multiple missions to fly in. Also, the Advanced Training Lab is a joke and needs to be replaced completely.

Horizons was the best dark ride Disney has ever built. It was filled with tons to look at, a great musical score, great storyline and revolutionary choose your own ending. I miss it oh so very much. Only Toad and Mansion have a fanbase as passionate as Horizons.

That being said, there will never be a ride like it again because of the world's short attention span and TDO being cheep. We at least have memories, photos and YouTube right?

Too the person who said they wouldn't ride the more intense version maybe try it after hours as the park is gonna close, then at least if your day is ruined its not ruined for long.
Alright...what does that have to do with anything?
Well aren't we just a barrel of fun.

Quick question for all the folks that visit the World more than my 3-4 times a year... I read on here a month or so ago about Mars in front of Mission Space being covered and being worked on... Is this complete? I know over the last few years it has looked really bad with the fading... Does anyone have a pic...

Also, Do they ever actually take the ride down and refurb it?? I can only assume it could use some paint!

Does anyone have an update on the Mission Space exterior refurb? Are the construction scrims still up or have they come down?

Thanks ahead of time for any updated info!

It's so old that I don't even remember it...

which means I agree with you; it's time to be done with that ride.
You are a kid.

Not remembering things is kind of your job.

The fact that a high school kid can't remember something doesn't mean it happened a long time ago, lol. And it certainly doesn't mean that adults should cease thinking about or discussing it.

Yeah, it kind of is, lol. Actually, my parents weren't wild about it and were much happier with Mission: Space. I think they said they never bothered with it even when they had me. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to spend the next few minutes seeing what was so great about it.

Actually, kid no more, I am officially 18! (okay, barely an adult, but still! I know you probably still think of me as a kid, but anyway...I'm excited. Slightly more freedom.) And I only have three more weeks of high school;). So that'll just make me college Freshmeat, lol.

EDIT: The comment was directed more at those who say, "They should put it back! They should never have taken it out! It's perfectly fine to reminisce, another thing to not move on.

I agree it is not on the scale of Horizons but it is still fun and not just an empty pavilion. My niece and I rode three times in row with no issues.

Does anybody know if the green side centrifuges are ever spun to keep them working fully? I figure not but was just curious.

You're right, just because someone can't remember something doesn't mean it should stop being discussed. However bring up horizons in every mission space thread needs to stop.

On topic the refurb looks very nice. I can't wait to see the planets looking bright an shiny again.

You've been here for 2 months and you've seen this in every single mission space thread?

I think the reason that the subject comes up so often is that today's Future World is such a shell of what once was, and it hurts us old "geezers" to see what it has become.

You should have seen how bright and shiny the future seemed in Horizons.

People miss Horizons.

Some particular reason you think they shouldn't discuss it? Did your mom and dad not like it, too?

I do think it looks nice and especially so when the sun bounces off of it. I hadn't really realized how dull it had become until I saw it after the refurb.

Mission Space is one of my current favors but this still does not mean Horizon was a great dark ride. I use to love Horizon as well. I wish Mission would have been built in another pavilion.

I could have had the best of both worlds. :)

I just said discussing it is fine in the post you quoted. I rode horizons guys. It was a great ride. That doesn't equal taking every Mission Space thread and going I miss horizons they should bring it back. Make a horizons greatness thread and post about it all the time, I'll join ya.
