The last time I was in WDW was right when M:S opened and the line was so long that I just wasn't going to brave it. I'm finally heading back down next month and have been considering going ahead and giving it a shot. With that said, my formerly-iron stomach has gone away in the past twelve years (not the stomach, that keeps getting larger) so I'll likely have to do M:S Green if I do it at all.
Should I even bother? Is the spinning of the Orange side so important to the experience of riding the attraction that the Green side ends up being essentially shoved into a tiny closet while you watch a movie? I haven't really heard people talk about it, other than to state the obvious that it doesn't spin.
Conversely, is Orange so bad that I would regret my life choices if I just sucked it up and gave it a try? My tendency for nausea isn't so bad that I can't take the occasional ride on a Round-Up, though it would definitely be limited to a single time as opposed to during my younger days when I was known to ride "spinny rides" multiple times with very few ill effects.
I am prone to nausea and so generally avoid rides that spin (I haven’t done the teacups in years). But M:S seemed worth making an exception for. I tried the green version first and found it perfectly tolerable, so then I went for orange. Yes, it left me feeling rather queasy, but the experience was worth it. I would compare the feeling to what one might experience after riding ToT. Of course, this is my opinion only, and your reaction may end up being very different. I would nevertheless give it a try, perhaps starting with green to see how you fare. Good luck!
SAMEI can do any roller coaster at Cedar Point. Doesn't matter how many corkscrews, sharp turns, loops, etc. I can't do the Mission Space Orange. I even tried dramamine first. Nope. I get really dizzy and queasy.
How one tolerates green has nothing to do with how they might tolerate orange. It is a completely different experience physically.
Basically this. That landing sequence is the best part by far. The re-entry, the rain, and chase plane all make it feel like a big deal instead of the over cheesified orange version. I'd honestly take a version of green with some of the Soarin' stuff cut out in exchange for a longer landing. If you’re used to orange, green is nice for something different.
If you’re not, green is still worth a look.
Body Wars was programmed to be in fluid versus Star Tours which was programmed to be in space. BW was always rocking, like a boat in a lake. ST is direct with its movement because...space. And your case was the same for many people.Body Wars made me nauseous back in the day, but Star Tours didn't, for some reason. I can handle the Gravitron, but I'd rather not be pukey for the rest of the day. Maybe I'll just go with Green and not worry. Tough choices, these. lol
Just reading this makes me wonder why the people of disney chose this ride system over the original dark ride plan. Just sounds awful!
We do, too.I miss Gary Sinise.
THIS man knows how to party! lolRather than either, I just ride the tea cups as fast as I can spin it and imagine Gary Sinise.
I pray we are not in the same cabin together if we do coincidentally ride MS on the same dayI guess I'll just gauge my general well-being when I'm there and see what happens. If I go on Orange and I spew, at least I'll have a story to tell.
