I was wonder with all the talk about MS being a problem would taking dramamine help? Has anybody done this before and if so did it help?

I have not tried this before but my advice is...

don't drug yourself up if you don't think you can do it. Just don't do it and save yourself and everyone else the time. Its just not worth it.

Dramamine won't really "drug" you up. It is just to help people get over motion sickness (usually used for car and bus rides)

4tide1- If you feel that dramamine would work then give it a shot. We had a friend who used it when he went on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. It won't adversely affect you, but it may not cut out all the motion conditions you will find.

I agree, give it a shot. It won't make any of the effects any worse. I think it's a good precaution to take. I will be going on Mission: Space for the first time this December and I plan on taking Dramamine as well! :p

Know that it's also sold at all baby care centers propery wide. ;)

Here's a neat fact... After Mission: SPACE opened at Epcot, First Aid's attendance at Epcot has jumped dramatically.

If you just sit and look straight ahead and keep your eyes open, you will not get sick. Its when you look away or close your eyes that problems happen.

If you're so worried about it that you are considering taking Dramamine, I wouldn't go on it in the first place. Seriously - there are already FAR too many people who think they can handle it or just "wanna see what it's like" without first considering the consequences.

MS is a VERY unique ride - like nothing else in the world. If you are the least bit worried you could feel sick or likewise something, I highly reccomend you sit it out. The ride is intense and it does have the potential to make you sick. If you ride Space Mountain, RnRC, Splash Mountain, and ToT ... then you most likely have the gut for it. But if you can handle those rides with the breeze, then give it a shot.

Taking meds (and btw Dramamine makes you very tired!) is not something you should have to do to go on a ride in a first place.

I would say thats a little extreme. I was worried when I was going on it for the first time because of the hype it got. But it was just fine.

Sit back in your seat, don't move your head, and don't close your eyes. You will be fine.

It's better to prepare for the worst than hope for the best.
Otherwise the same thing will happen to MS as it did for AE. People not reading signs, people ignorning signs, or people who read the signs & understand them but still go even though they know good and well they can't naturally handle it.

I don't know if Dramamine would actually help...That's for people who have motion disparities. They don't feel the motion but see it out of the corner of their eye and throws them off. (i.e. reading in a car) This is a whole different beasy. I never get motion sick. In fact, I went on it 7 times in one day and was fine...Went on it once the next day and accidently turned my head a little too far to the right...Skewed my equilibrium to one side for a few hours (I kept bumping into walls when I thought I was walking in a straight line, talk about weird) and felt a little off.

I was sick for hours after that ride. I would rather feel a little drowsy with Dramamine than what I felt. Of course, if I had any reason to believe it would have ruined my whole day, I never would have gone on that ride.

I'm very prone to motion sickness and the first time I went on MS I forgot to take Dramamine and I was fine....If you want to use it, that's great, but I'm not sure it's totally necessary.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who used to ALWAYS carry Dramamine because I would get car sick everywhere I would go, if you feel more comfortable attempting M:S with the aid of the meds, I say go for it. Dramamine isnt going to hurt you in any way and if it makes you more comfortable about going on, so be it!!! It may make you a bit tired and it always had the effect of making me hungry and having my feet be cold ( dont ask I have no idea) but cold feet in the warmth of Florida is not a huge issue, the tired feeling will wear off with the medication and hungry...........well you are by World Showcase after all!! I say go have a nice meal!!! Belle

I get motion sick on rides like the teacups, body wars, etc. I don't get physically sick on the ride, but feel very queasy for quite a while afterward. I didn't want to miss out on M:S, so I did take Bonine (similar to Dramamine, but doesn't cause so much drowsiness). I did still get slightly queasy after the ride was over, but overall the meds seemed to work pretty well. They certainly won't hurt.
