Missing Narration in Haunted Mansion?

The Ghost Host's "Perhaps Madame Leota...", as well as the earlier lines in the COD ("All our ghosts have been dying to meet you. This one can hardly contain himself." and "Unfortunately they all seem to have trouble getting through...") never made it into the WDW version of the HM. For that matter they were never part of DL's version from its opening in 1969 until sometime in the '90's when the attraction underwent a ''plussing" to its attic by installing the piano-playing shadow and pop-ups that now uttered ''I do..." At that time *someone* in Imagineering decided to reinstitute that Ghost Host dialogue - but apparently never with the OK of certain "higher ups" and said dialogue has since been removed from DL's HM as well.

More accurately the higher-ups changed.
The original Imagineers had decided soon after opening that after the Ghost Host say's sssh' listen it would be redundant for the Ghost Host to continue talking so those lines were cut.

In 1995 Tony Baxter was Creative Lead for Disneyland and in the 1995 refurb which featured the hearse outside and the "I do" Attic update Tony decided to restore the complete original narration. Fast-Forward to 2006 Tom Fitzgerald is now the creative leader of WDI and the previous year they installed floating Leota and new changing portraits in the portrait Corridor the "Constance" Attic recently debuted along with a new "face" effect in the Seance room. At that time Fitzgerald decided to remove those lines because he felt the original Imagineers were right that the sound effects should "tell the story" and not have redundant narration from the Ghost Host.

These lines were never in the WDW version since while the WDW version was being installed the Imagineers had already removed those lines from the DL show thus the tapes and the speakers for them were not installed in WDW.

I was there last week, and noticed that as well. When I rode two different days, it wasnt working.

Hey guys, just rode HM twice yesterday and while it was the first time in the past two years where I can remember it not breaking down, there was also a spot where the ghost host's narration was missing.

Both times, the "The happy haunts have received your sympathetic vibrations and are beginning to materialize. They're assembling for a swinging wake. And they'll be expecting me. I'll see you all a little later." narration at the ballroom scene did not play. At first I thought it might've just been our buggie, and that the sound had stopped working, but after riding it a second time, I knew that they had removed it.

I had just gone to Disney two weeks ago and rode the HM then. And while it did break down, I don't remember it not having that bit of narration.

Anyone know why this is?

just re-read the post. THAT part IS still in the Anaheim version. what HAS been cut i'm assuming on both coasts is the dialogue as you approach the seance room

The Haunted Mansion hardly ever breaks down. You are probably experiencing stops for wheelchairs, or possible guest situations.

If not, you are extraordinarily unlucky.

It's still there, but this isn't the first time someone has mentioned not hearing it.

Sometimes stuff happens.

It has been missing the last couple of times I have rode in the last week, also the "perhaps Madam Leota...." script was not working for us. Maybe there is just a slight glitch in this section of the mansion.
That hasn't been there since 2006, if not earlier.
