Missing movies on Disney+

There is still a Disney Movie Club? Sounds really counter to Disney's streaming services. Looking at it, you have to buy 5 movies at least $19.99 a piece!! Almost all of those movies you can get on Amazon for $9 or less.

I signed up for the exclusives years before Disney+ was a thing. I made it work with the deals they give (50% off each additional title if you buy one regular price, for example), but it's obviously not for everyone.

Midnight Madness is another missing Disney movie. It was a college age scavenger hunt staring Michael J Fox. It was kind of a toned downed Animal House.

What was cool about that movie was Fox playing the arcade game Star Fire. It had 3d TIE fighters that you shoot down.

D+ is just over 2 years old. Any deals that Disney had with other streamers or streaming-on-demand or PPV or to purchase online (such as on VUDU) need time to expire. A typical 3 year deal wouldn't free up some of these properties until the end of 2022. And if it was a five-year deal, it'd be the end of 2024.

Same timetable for Fox properties (it was only in the last few months that all of the Ice Age videos made it to D+).

Disney probably paid dearly for some of the properties to wind up on D+ faster (e.g., all the Marvel and Star Wars stuff). It isn't going to spend extra for the whole back catalog.

Also... Anything winding up on D+ is going to have to be vetted for modern sensibilities. Should it go to Hulu/Star? Should it get a warning? Should it be buried in the deepest trenches of the sea?

Then they have to decide which properties need to be localized (dubbed into other languages) and make that happen.

We are seeing however, some of the foreign content starting to trickle into D+/Hulu/Star, just like Netflix does.
