Ok, I got something on my FB status about this. Dont know if its been talked about here yet, but apparently there is a CM missing on the Disney Wonder since Tuesday. The ONLY info I've been able to find about this is by googling this subject, and what comes up is from another Disney forum, which I'm not a part of by the way:

Can ANYONE confirm this? Has anyone heard anything about this? Steve? anyone?

Just concerned for the CM if this is true.:shrug::confused::shrug:

From Cruisejunkie.com

March 24Disney Wonder
Disney Cruise LineFrom a crew member (unconfirmed): Two days ago one of the youth activities counselors apparently jumped over board. It was at 3 am. They are still searching the ship without any news about her.
Crew member overboard?

I was reading about this early this morning and also went to that website Dave mentioned, CruiseJunkie.com. I guess I never thought about people jumping off a cruise ship willingly to complete suicide. I suppose it'd be pretty effective, especially from the higher decks. Aparently it's not all that uncommon in the cruise industry. I was reading back thru last year's list of overboards on that website and was surprised. I always thought people who went overboard were either under the influence of some substance or a victim. However, there weren't any reports of such from Disney Cruise Lines. I've read repeatedly that DCL is a great line to work for (comparitively). Doesn't even seem that the guests want off their ships that bad.

Tragic for the CM. I don't want to minimize that. I feel for anyone who experiences such desperation and/or hopelessness. I wonder if DCL confirmed that she willingly jumped by reviewing security cameras. Unless there was actual footage of such, I'd hope they wouldn't speculate. Ya know? Again, this was my first time reading this sort of thing.

Sounds like they were at sea when the CM went missing. The article cited from cnn.com said the Mexican navy was searching for her.

Dont know if the CM committed suicide, just read this from CNN which is concurent with the company's official release. Sounds like she may have gotten lost in Mexico.

No, it doesn't. The article says they've been searching for her since Tuesday (after she didn't report for her shift), and that the ship docked in Mexico on Wednesday. So, unless she never got on the ship (and didn't have to work until Tues., which is unlikely), she went missing while they were at sea. And unless she is hiding somewhere on the ship, I have a feeling this story is going to end badly.
Such a shame. Feel bad for her AND her coworkers, who all have to smile through what must be a horrible situation to deal with.

How tragic

My heart goes out to the young woman, her family, and coworkers. There are many "seasonal" jobs that unfortunately bring danger with the adventure - you wouldn't think a cruise line would be one to do so... when I worked at Glacier National Park, we were told in orientation that 1 employee in the room would not be going home again. Ever. Creepy. Statistics at that time showed 1 employee death/season due to falls while hiking, drowning while swimming in mountain lakes, bear attacks, etc. and to follow all rules for our own safety.

My wife and daughter were on another cruise line, when a guest did this while in port on New Year's Eve in Nassau. Very sobering. In their case, the ship's security cameras actually captured her jumping, so there was no mystery of whether she was "missing" or whatever.

Very sad to hear about this CM :(
