Many companies ship frozen food in styrofoam containers with dry ice. So, I think if you tossed it into a well-sealed container, you'd be good to go.

Not necessarily. The addition of water drastically accelerates the process causing the explosion. Dry ice in a thermos with the lid on a little loose would more than likely never explode as it would never build up pressure. You could probably even get away with just a water bottle as long as the lid was not air tight, but it would not take too long for the dry ice to evaporate without a little insulation.

You point out something interesting in that because of the way dry ice fades, this "device" had to have been put together on scene. You wouldn't put this thing together and bring it in and drop it.

Well, unless you rigged it with a delay and/or trigger mechanism. But, I doubt that. I think more likely that it was assembled on the spot, as you said.

With access to dry ice, I still think that a CM could be the culprit. Anyone who unloads those ice cream deliveries would have plenty of chance to get their hands on some, and probably saw some video on youtube and thought it would be funny.

Yes, any time you have a pressurized device exploding (dry ice filled or otherwise) its automatically a bad thing, I'm trying to keep this in some sense of context before everyone's imaginations run wild with nefarious suggestions as to what happened.

I hope you're right and it's just the stupid kind of a$$ and not the other kind, the more evil one. The fact that they only closed off toon town and not the rest of the park means they're not worried about any secondary devices indicates they have things under control and it most likely is the first type of a$$ that did this.

I am actually disgusted that this happened. Disney is supposed to be a safe place, yes I understand no where is safe but still.

Dry ice is Also used to make stage fog. You take hot water and pump it over dry ice in a barrel. The barrel has a fan that blows the fog onto the stage. Does anyone know if they use dry ice for the stage shows?

I'm actual shocked by this news for it to happen at a Disney park of all places. It really angrys me to see someone try and destroy Disney property.
