Mini-Golf

Fantasia Gardens does have 2 courses. I played the "professional golf" looking course. It is easy to take the boat from either Epcot or MGM to Fantasia Gardens. It is just a short walk from the dock across the street to the course.

What do you mean by "putt putt" course?

Some areas of the US refer to miniature golf as "Putt-Putt" (I've also heard "Mini Putt-Putt" used). I think some parts of the UK call it Crazy Golf.

It's kind of like how soda, pop, soda pop, tonic and even "Coke" all refer to the same thing depending on what part of the country you're in.

Different terms, same thing.

If I understand correctly, there are three mini-golf courses at Disney World.

There is Winterland-Summerland with a Winter and Summer themed course and Fantasia golf which consisits of two completely different theming, Fantasia Gardens and a course that is a mini-version of a real fairway

Our favorite is Winter Summerland. They have two courses with different themes...a winter theme and a summer theme. We play both rounds every year. :)

I really enjoy playing Disney mini golf. Fantasia Gardens is a very difficult course and WinterSummerland is always a hit for the entire family. Despite my very competitive nature, I still have a load of fun. The Pirates Cove mini golf on International Drive located to the east of the property is also a fun place to play!!

If playing Fantasia Gardens, IMHO, play at night. There is little or no shade. We went there one year after a day at TL (August) and just completely melted into the course. We go to Fantasia Gardens every year but now play at night. It is usually preceded by dinner at the ESPN Club, some fun on the Boardwalk, mini golf, then back to the nearest resort to catch a but to DTD for shopping. This gives everyone, moms, nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins a chance to do something they want to do in the same night, albeit shopping, mini golfing, watching a baseball game in the bathroom etc.

Putt Putt is actually a franchise of mini-golf sites. (http://www.puttputt.com) We used to have one where I grew up, and I still have a habit of calling all mini-golf putt putt. The same way you probably call all cotton swabs Q-Tips. It's brand-name brainwashing. :)

I have played Pirate's Island. It's a good course, but the last time I was there, termites were swarming all over it. I was afraid to bring my shoes into my house and actually totally sprayed them down with bug spray some distance away for fear that my house would be filled with pirate termites!

Of the mini-golf courses at WDW, I prefer the Fantasia Gardens course. It is well-themed and a lot of fun. And if you're there at the right time of night and know where to look, you can see Mickey just over the treeline at the end of Fantasmic when he is standing on top of the mountain!

We usually go after we leave the park. Usually we pick a night that is a early close like 9 pm then head straight over. Our older DS likes the *real* course at Fantasia. But our DS 5, likes the Winter Summerland. I'm kinda partial to Winter Summerland myself. DH is picky. ;)

For those of you who have mini-golfed at Disney as well as Pirates Island/Pirates Cove (or any other Orlando/Kissimmee mini-golf site for that matter), which would you say is better? I'm interested in the 3D experience like Congo River and Pirates Island, both in Kissimmee: the hills, the waterfalls, the caves, etc. If that is what I like, will I be dissapointed with the Disney mini-golf sites, or do they have their share of such things as well?

We played @ Fantasia Gardens in early June. There is any easy and hard course. The hard one is a "tiny golf course". It had hills, sand traps, and all! Quite difficult, but a whole lot of FUN! I did whip my hubby during our 18 hole game!
