Mini DVD question...

Well I guess I need not worry about the pictures but video Im only using the single sided because I want the +RW and there arent any double sided for that yet. I figured for the price of the mini dvd's it made better sense to be able to come home then transfer all the data on to standard dvd's, and from there I can convert to SD to give to family and save the HD for my personal use and then be able to format the mini's to reuse again.

That was my thinking too (transferring them to normal DVD's for keepsake).

But I would be lying if I said I still wasnt worried a little about pictures, this trip was only possible because of the passing of my father and my mom sending us with insurance money. Im not sure if I will ever be able to go again and beings that I have only been married for 8 yrs and the last time I was @ WDW was a good 10 -12 yrs ago, my wife and 2 step kids have never been there... so pictures taken needs to be upped a notch because of the circumstances.

I totally understand where your concerns are coming from. We had some bad lucky with our cameras on our last trip 2 years ago (my 1st trip ever to WDW). We went down with 2 cameras (a Kodak Advantik and a Nikon digital camera) and took a ton of pictures only to discover when we got home that none of my 3 rolls of film from the Advantix turned out (ended up the camera was kaput - we learned that this year BEFORE our trip:o) and most of the pics on the Nikon's card turned out very blurry. Even our home videos turned out blurry. That was one of the reasons I was so anxious to go back last month. At least this time we managed to catch our memories on film and disc and with very few bad pictures in the bunch (over 300+ good family memories and 5 or 6 mini-discs full of home movies).

P.S. Sorry to hear about the passing of your father. :(

On the safe side I called down to the Kodak shop on Main St and was told that they do transfers behind counter of 300 photos per cd for 11.99+tax...

Side note: I just love talking to people down there... makes me feel like Im 9 yrs old and gives me goose bumps hearing them say "Have a Magical Day", LOL... now if I could only make the next 9 weeks go by faster!

Good to hear. :sohappy: I know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to talking to someone down there prior to your trip. I called down to the Pop Century a couple of times to confirm something about our arrival and the kids wanted me to put the desk person up on speaker phone just for that very reason - "Have a magical day" And trust me, those 9 weeks will fly by!

ok I tested it ... Sony Vegas could not read those *.m2ts files  but an update is supposed to come out soon

there are very compilicated workarounds but those are just not practical (using windvd as frameserver for a reencde)

so you could either shoot in HD and wait for a way to edit the footage or you shoot in SD

AVCHD update for Vegas is available at
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2

it will allow you to use AVCHD in Vegas
