Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Pary

Hi everyone! My husband and I are taking our first trip to Disney as adults this December. We have been planning on going to MVMCP, we LOVE Christmas, but I've been wondering if it's really worth the price tag? It will cost us around $130. Who has been? Was it worth the money?

I don't mind spending the money, just don't want to look back and wish we would've spent it on a nice dinner :) Thanks in advance!

I LOVE Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party....especially the parade. The marching toy soldiers are my favorite...just to hear them marching down the street....oh how I wish we were going this December. Before my husband and I got married I went to Disney every year in December. I never missed the party!! Once we got married and had children we did not go back for 6 1/2 years and when we did it was for the Flower and Garden Festival in May. As much as I loved that I was longing for my Christmas trip and all the wonderful sights and sounds. We finally made it this past December. Our daughters LOVED MVMCP as much as I do. They were sooooo thrilled with the parade. They liked the free hot chocolate and cookies too. So....now that you have my long answer, my short answer is I think it is worth the money. Enjoy!!!

I think the Christmas party is great. I have only gone once, and my husband and I had a great time. We did spend some time with the rest of our family (my parents, sister,bro-in-law, and niece). I just got our tickets for the party this November. I'm so excited to go! The best parts was the special Wishes and the parade.:xmas:

We did it last year for the first time. We really enjoyed it, but I'm still up in the air about the value of it all. While I still prefer standard Wishes, Holiday Wishes completely floored me. I take pictures of EVERYTHING , but I actually put my camera down for a while during the show to really take it in. In fact, the sound of the sleigh bells with the castle going dark by section from the top gave me such chills that I think it as a solid minute before I even tried to take a pic.:D The parade was awesome- we were cold as all get out- but it was sooooooo festive. The cookies and hot cocoa are DIVINE :slurp: and all of the CMs we encountered that night were totally in the spirit. We just didn't get to see much in the way of the stage shows and the one M&G we thought we might do (Seven Dwarfs) had a line a mile long. I actually took pics of other people with them and decided to just move on.

So, while we really loved it, I don't know if the things described above were worth the price tag. I have a friend going on the very last night this year and I'm curious to see what she thinks since I could never give her a definite thumbs up or thumbs down. If anything, it may be something you have to try once to truly decide if it was worth it and worth repeating.

This upcoming visit we will do this again, it will be my DD and mom-in-law's first time and I have new cameras to capture their expressions. You will love it, two parades, but try the second parade..roam the park for extra things going on...stage play of "Night Before Christmas" in Tomorrowland, small lines for rides, extra characters out, Santa line to talk to, goodies to eat (we are even MORE blessed this year due to we are able to go to Desert Party), Christmas music and SNOW during the parade! ENJOY!

I know I'm in the minority - maybe I just had a bad experience or something - but I did it once and don't think I'd do it again.

The parade was nice - but we're not really parade people. We only watched it because of the perception that we paid "extra" for it (we're passholders, so it's not like we were able to buy MVMCP in place of a park ticket for the day). Holiday Wishes was also pretty good, but I prefer Wishes. As for the cocoa and cookies - the cocoa was what you can make with hot water and an envelope at home, and nowhere near as good as if you make it with milk like I do. The cookies were like prepackaged sugar cookies you would buy at Walmart, and they had been frozen and (mostly) defrosted. If you think of both of these as being "free", you get exactly what you pay for.

There are other events around the park, dance parties and such, but we didn't really partake in any of those - maybe those would have brought the value of the experience up to the price point.

It sounds to me like your biggest concern is being disappointed you spent the money. Based on my experience and the feelings expressed by everyone else, as well as the enthusiasm that came through in your post, I'd put that risk at no more than 15%, especially if what I've written tempers your expectations just a little.

On the other hand, if you skip it, there's a 100% chance you'll always wonder whether you made a mistake. So from where I sit, the math says do it.

Not a fan of Mickey's Christmas party

We went to the party 3 years ago & did not enjoy it. The crowds were unbelievable. It was so bad in some areas of the park that you shuffled instead of walked. I was quite disappointed that they would sell that many tickets. We have gone at Christmas 8 times & my family feels the two best Christmas events are the Candlelight Processional at Epcot & the Osbourn Light show at DHS. Both of these are awesome & they are FREE! We will be at Disney from Dec. 15th through Dec. 23rd this year. The first two days are for just my wife & I. Then our kids & grandkids come on Dec. 17th. Looking forward to another great Christmas season at WDW!!!

My wife and I went to the Christmas Party for the first time last year while we were in town for the F&W festival. It was fantastic. Christmas is our favorite time of year and the party really helped put us in the Christmas spirit. Walking down main street with snow flying in the air, listening to traditional Christmas music, while sipping hot chocolate, and eating cookies is not to be missed. The parade is awesome and the fireworks are unbelievable. Everyone in the park was in a festive mood. I was ready for Santa to come that night. It is not cheap, but like the Halloween party is it well worth it.:xmas:

How do you know what's going on where and when?? Do they publish a schedule of events ahead of time, or do they just pass out a schedule that night when you arrive?

I think the gave out a little booklet or something when you arrived. There is probably a way to see it ahead of time, but I'm not sure. Maybe check the park hours calendar at Disney's web site and check details for a party night.

Thanks everyone for your opinions! I think we have decided to go. We love Christmas and Disney so much, I don't think we will feel like we wasted our money! But I will certainly report back :xmas:

DH & I went to MVMCP 3 years ago ... we had a great time.

For us it was cheaper than a 1 day park ticket so it was a no brainer. We entered MK at 4pm.

Doubt I would do it again BUT glad to have experienced it.

Have a magical trip
