The construction is taking place in the theater so there is really nothing for us to see. I guess we will have to wait until the attraction opens.

It is about Mickey's Philhar Orchestra, and Mickey is the conductor. If memories of Mickey's Musical Revue start coming back, then you have an idea of what this show will be about. OTH, it differs in that there is a certain character that is up to mischief during the performance...

Oh how could you do this to me......I had no clue that it would be about Mickey as a conductor from the name of it:animwink:
I am sad to see Lion King have to leave, that was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I can see how they can save a ton of money by changing it to a 3-D movie. What did Lion King have like 15 people to run each show or something? I remember seeing something on the Disney Channel about it a long time ago. But out with the old and in with the cheap and easy to do (just kidding)
But if you think about it, Lion King was the only movie that had an attraction in 3 of the 4 parks. Which is amazing when some of the movies arnt even in 1. My only hope is now they will go over to AK and get rid of that show....Hated it!!!!! What a waste of some good floats from DL.

A. The Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom is the most popular show on the Disney Property
B. The Legend of the Lion King was a massive safety hazard--puppetteers could run into each other and get badly injured, so insurance costs kept rising.
C. The new show is not cheap:

A few notes about the construction and why it will take so long.

First of all, the old stage and the wall between the old pre-show and main show areas had to be destroyed.

Then, all of the seats had to be removed, and the FLOORS had to be taken out. The reason for this is that, like Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, this theatre will have a motion-based floor, meaning the entire theatre can shake. It is very costly to put this type of floor in and very time-consuming. Afterwards, the new seats will have to be installed with their special effects and the entire theatre will need its in-theatre special effects. Then, the new screen has to be built (over 100 feet long and over fifty feet tall). It's all very time-consuming, and that doesn't even include theming and whatever else they do with the old queue area.

As for the story--it is a journey into disney music, but it also has a plot...if you search around enough, you will find information about a certain scene with Mickey getting caught in a wind storm...and then it starts raining, both of which allow for some obvious in theatre effects. This is supposed to be the best show with these in-theatre effects yet, which makes sense--each show like this that disney makes gets more impressive. One nice thing about this show is that the theatre could easily hold 600+ guests (this will obviously be a Fastpass attraction), which allows for a longer show than It's Tough to Be a Bug. I mean...the screen is over 100 feet long, allowing each row of seats to have at least fifty seats...very large capacity.

I like the Lion King show at AK. You are talking about how the Legend of The Lion king was so unique because of all the work that had to go into each performance, and you are dissing a show that has fire eaters, dancers, acrobatics, singers, and animatronics that has performances everyday? :) Not to argue, though, I respect everyone's opinions :)

I think that the new 3D show will have as much uniqueness to it as any of the other shows, especially with teh involvment of Disney Animation that I hear. I love to see the Animation dept. do stuff for the parks, since it brings together the 2 best parts of Disney entertainment. I am thinking that this will also be the first "3D type show" that is traditionally animated? (Excluding the CGI Tough to be a bug). I cant wait to see what it will be like.

Hey, that sounds like that old Mickey cartoon where he conducts an orchestra and the tornado comes and blows them away!

(I hope I didn't just spoil it? :lookaroun )
