Was there tonight hoping it was going to be dead until I saw the sold out post in this site. It didn't feel too crowded and I was able to do everything that I wanted. The only bummer was the rain delaying the parade 45 min

Halloween horror nights in orlando is not sold out on oct 31st as of when I am posting this (just checked)

Supposedly Halloween itself is the best time to go to these multi-hour events because for whatever reason the crowds are low.
Most young people have friends that host private Halloween parties, and people with children know that this is the night to actually go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood.
Everyone else who otherwise would have been interested in the theme park events probably assumes that they're going to be super-crowded when the opposite is historically true.

Anyone had problems printing the e-tickets for this? I follow the ‘print at home’ link below, but I get redirected to the Disney website front page. I can't find any other link to a print at home page.

You cannot stay in the park after 7pm unless you have a wristband. They deploy a massive number of cast members to sweep the park, and they direct those without wristbands to the exit. All admission to attractions is limited to wristbands, and by the time parades and shows come, the park is clear.

Just to echo what Steve said (having finally seen it in action), it's pretty hard to make it by the sweep. About 7:30, when we finished with Jack & Sally, every door along Main Street was closed, with a CM standing in front of it checking for wrist bands. About halfway down, we came across a literal wall of CM's. They were shoulder to shoulder, and 2-3 deep. Slowly moving down the street, only letting you through if you had a wristband on.

True for HHN (other than 2012, which was just a weird year). Not true for MNSSHP, which sells out on 10/31 early every year. Different crowd--people with kids vs. people looking to party.
