I'm following the strategy of being a day guest at MK when MNSSHP is that night on the theory that there are fewer crowds in MK when a party is that night. So I plan to take advantage of this.
This is my first party and the first time my BFF has been to WDW. We're going on August 30th and doing the exact same thing. Praying that the day crowds are low so we can get as much done in the MK during the day leaving us plenty of time during the party to do M&G's, entertainment, etc. An extra hour gives us so much more breathing room.

I’m splitting my days between party and day at MK. I have the Pixie Dust pass so can’t do weekends. I bought a separate party ticket for a Sunday night however. Going back as a day guest on the following Tuesday then plan on hanging out in the monorail resorts for a few hours before CG dinner at 9:30. I can then watch the MNSSHP fireworks from there at 10:15.

One thing's for certain, there will be lots more cranky, costumed children crying in the August heat than you'll see in October!
I still refuse to wear anything that does not breathe well in the heat and we go in October. I could not imagine wearing a costume in the August humid heat. 🤮🤮🤮 I am going as Fred Flintstone and my wife as Wilma and that is as dressed up in a costume as I plan on getting. We went as prisoners (full long sleeved black and white striped outfits) once and my son went as a police officer escorting us and it was miserable hot.

Our plan is to hope they’re selling Halloween themed shirts before the first party so we can scoop some up for the second party.

Aug 16 seems like a random day to be the 2nd night to sell out, is there some event or convention elsewhere in town bringing in crowds?
The annual Epcot Pin Event is Aug 12-13th, so there will be quite a few people doing that who planned their vacation to hit this party since it is cheaper than the 1st one and less blogger presence. That event isn't big enough on it's own, but it's probably a 1000+ "bonus" that other nights in August wouldn't have. But it's probably a combo of price + school

Here's all the food and drink details for the party - the Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party also returns this year.

It’ll also have far fewer vlogger types at it than the August 12 party.
I guess they have to make it up by charging the general public more to make up for all the free passes they're giving away to their social media flunkies.

I want to go, but we went in 2019 and it was a hot, overcrowded mess. We did very few party exclusive things and not for lack of trying. I swore never again to do parties, but with the crowd levels I heard of last year, I’d be interested. The food sounds good, but has anyone else thought there’s a skew to more spicy food than in the past? I’m ok with it, but the rest of my party, not so much!
