Typically has 2 parades (christmas parade), 1 fireworks show inbetween, a special show at the Tomorrowland stage next to Buzz, free cookies and cocoa, and free family photo from various spots around the park. Also, snow falling on Mainstreet USA and all the decor lit up at night. The fireworks will usually have 360 degree surround shots in addition to the usual behind the castle pyro. This year a new version of Wishes is being shown called "Winter Wishes."

In addition to all the above mentioned, there are, of course, the attractions themselves. There are a limited number of tickets for each night, so I'd say its worth it!

We went last year on the last night which sold out quickly and we had a great time. Yes it was crowded for a ticketed event, but not horrible. We had such a great time during the holidays at WDW that we are planning a long weekend earlier in December this year.

I've been to the party numerous times starting with the first year it was started. It's fun for the whole family. Disney really pulls out all of the stops when they put this together.

I would strongly advise anyone going to go during the week and avoid the weekends at all cost. It get extremely crowded....

I went last year and I loved it. It was the first special event ticket night that I'd ever done at the 'World.

You can see some photos I took that night here if you're curious.

Snow on Main Street, the parades, the theming - it's just all a very magical night. I definately suggest going. :)

My two daughters (12yrs and 4yrs), my wife, and I never agree on anything, but the one thing that we do agree on is that Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is our favorite event at WDW. Usually great weather, not too big of crowds, free cookies and hot chocolate, special shows and parades, free family photos, and snow on Main St. Doesn't get any better than that. We'll be at VWL from 2-11DEC05 and we will be going to MVMCP at least once during that time.

Definitely worth it for EVERYONE! (except for Scrooge types, I guess)
There is nothing like Disney, especially the Magic Kingdom, during the holidays!!
(In fact, I just rebooked my November flights - change fee and all - in order to attend one!)

MVMCP is one of, if not the best special event at WDW, As a serious anti-holiday individual, aka "The Grinch" This event makes the ice in my veins melt and opens the door to the whole holiday season. Hot Chocolate, Cookies, Roated Chestnuts @ The Grand Floridian, Snow and Happiness abound.
My advise is to visit the resorts during the day as they all are decorated beautifully enjoy a wonderful but expensive early dinner at V&A's and then
MVMCP till Midnight - Best Wishes and see ya real soon -

how early?

How early should tickets to the event be purhcased (and how early are they offered?)

I will be a CP Castmember again during fall/winter, would I have to purchase a different type of ticket?

I've been going to the VM for years and love it. The first two parties are usually crowded as are the ones towards the end and ones on the weekends are more crowded because the locals attend (no school the next day), the least crowded tend to be during the week.

I know EPCOT has a tree lighting ceremony every day for the tree at the entrance to world showcase. I think MK does the tree lighting ceremony too. Don't miss the Osborne lights at MGM either (they do a lighting ceremony too).

I can't wait to go myself now, my favorite time of year.
