Mickey's Mart

Hi again

Just wondering what Mickey's Mart is like. This DTD store is new to us since we were there last. Is it like a dollar store, or is there actually some decent stuff in there? (BTW, I'm more interested in clothing, kitchen and office accessories and toys).

Disney's site describes it as "Mickey's Mart - Everything Ten Dollars and Under. Grab the perfect gift for friends and family in this exciting new store, a unique boutique that features Surprise Grab Bags and Items of the Week."

Any extra details would be appreciated for this Canadian Disney shopaholic! :hammer:

I'm pretty random. Mostly toys and kids stuff, but there's occasionally some "office" or "home" type stuff. Mostly it's stuff that would of been priced near or under $10 in the parks anyways, but has been moved to this store to sell because they don't want it on the racks in the other stores anymore.

Sort of a clearing house..

There's also a version of the store that exists in Epcot at the entrance to World Showcase from Future World. It's very similiar but I think it's got a bit of a nicer selection. I've yet to find anything worth buying from either though.

We didn't go this past year, but when we went in 2005 didn't find that much and it's really a small store. Kid's didn't even find something that they wanted.

If it's been there since 2005, it must really be small because I missed it!

Does it carry any grocery items or is it just souveniers?

It is in the area beside the hundred acre wood shop at DTD (used to house a garden-type shop, I think.

It is basically a covered alleyway that is crammed to the gills with small items for purchase. The shop (alley) gets very crowded at time and it can be hard to move through.

As merf said, it is mostly stuff that was already $10 or less. You'll occasionally find something at a bargain for $10 in there, but don't expect any miracles, to say the least. I think the most "valuable" item on sale for ten bucks I've ever seen there was worth $15, tops.

If it's the same place that I'm thinking of, it looks like it just an attachment to another store - like an afterthought. It had the look of a "flea market" dollar store ($10.00 store! lol) kind of place. Not a bad store, but not a huge selection. And everything is new, so you might get lucky. I check it out if I'm in the area but don't make a special trip to go there.

Not very helpful, was I? sorry . . . . :veryconfu

Crap they usually sell there:

Antennae toppers.

Plush.

Attraction related toys that didn't sell too well.

Random non-disney branded toys that were sold as area themed toys in the parks. An example, a dinosaur that hatches from an egg from Dinoland USA.

Autgraph books, markers, pencils, pens, and other such Disney branded paper goods and desk paraphenalia.

Back scratchers.

$6.99 "grab bags" that I wont waste the money to find out what's inside of them.

My 7 year old granddaughter collects the push toys for the different rides(HAUNTED MANSION, DUMBO, TEST TRACK, EXPEDITION EVEREST, POOH RIDE, etc.). I think she has around 14 total and we found three of the older ones we thought were no longer available in the MICKEY MART.

The great thing about shopping there is the things being offered change constantly!

We were not impressed at all, and were quite annoyed that to buy an item priced 3 for $10, you had to actually buy 3 items. I seriously couldn't find 3 items there that I'd buy.

I forgot to mention this, but if you have a car you might want to go to the Character Outlet at the Outlet mall off of I-4. They carry all the WDW stuff that Disney considers "outdated" at least half off the original prices. That is one of our first stops when we get down to Orlando, and waiting to get into the hotel. We usually buy many of our T-shirts there. We get great souvenirs for our neices that we normally wouldn't buy because of the great prices.

Outlet Mall with character store:sohappy: If you are looking for kitchen items when you are at DTD, the World of Disney Store has a room full. My DH does all our cooking so.....he loved that room

60 days until we are Orlando bound with 21 teens on a school bus for 930 miles of smiles:hammer:

I have to agree. The Mart is very small. If you are looking for a 'trinket gift' you might be in luck. I have never found much there myself however. It is located near the Goofy candy store and the Pooh's Corner store.

This is a very good place to buy a few pieces of junk to give to those people who come up to you with "what did you bring me?" after you get back.
