Mickey's house isn't staying

Despite what some are saying, Mickey's house and Minnie's house won't be staying. They will be demolished.

OMG! Where am I going to tell my kids that Mickey and Minnie live now? Let's do an internet petition to stop this madness! Disney can't do this! These are their main characters!! WHY DISNEY?! :fork::fork::fork::(

There were a number of related questions at the party that received obfuscatory responses. People tried very hard to pin Mark Cole down to a firm answer. His "final" answer was "They're not going away" [not clear whether he was referring to the houses or the characters :lookaroun]. Many people cheered and were satisfied and he made a point of pointing to a fan dressed as Minnie who seemed elated and announced "See? Even Minnie's happy!", people cheered some more and they very quickly cut short the Q&A to avoid someone figuring it out.

The trouble is, he never said the houses weren't going anywhere, he basically said Mickey and Minnie M&Gs were always going to be in WDW and that's all he actually said. Given that there are M&Gs at DHS, AK and EPCOT where Mickey and Minnie can be met, he didn't even commit to having them at MK if you actually listened to what he said. I'm reasonabl;y sure there will always be some form of M&G for both in MK, it really wouldn't make sense not to, but I think you can safely kiss the houses goodbye.

Yeah, the fact that the M&Gs always existing in some form was a given, D23 info notwithstanding.

The thing was the semantics and hints concerning the structure itself. Hopefully they'll find their way over to DHS.

My point is that he most assuredly did not commit to anything about the structures one way or the other. In keeping with his answers to every other question "It's not decided yet" probably fits! :rolleyes:

Almost everything Mark Cole was asked was answered "It's not decided yet" or "It's not been determined yet" or "I'm not sure I have an answer to that" or "I'm not aware of anything like that being planned"... The man has the makings of a great politician or perhaps Presidential Press Secretary. :lol:

There were no real bombshells and nothing I considered "new" during the Q&A. There was stuff I hadn't been aware of in the actual presentation [re-theming of Barnstormer, details of M&Gs, etc...], but mainly in the way of slightly more detail than was known previously. How much of it other people knew or guessed at beforehand I don't know.

Mickey and Minnie got along quite nicely at Walt Disney World for decades before Toontown Fair. This isn't armageddon. Get a grip! :lol:

:brick: That is really, really disappointing, but that's just me. I was really hoping for some info out of this.

Disneyland in Toontown where they've always lived. These are just their country homes anyway. :p

Wouldn't surprise me if Mickey and Minnie wound up with little "vacation cabins" in Fantasyland Forest or something. You know... DVC treehouse villas. :lookaroun
