I'm looking forward to Toy Story Mania just because it'll be something new to do and MGM (or will it be Disney-Pixar?) desperately needs a major new attraction. I like the idea of retheming the area. It's very bare and boring, IMO, so this should be a good thing. It definitely seems like it will fit with the movie/showbiz factor of it all ...

The Pixar Studios look bland and won't even fit in with the look of MGM. If they do theme it like that no one has a clue what Pixar's studios look like so it will be a pointless exercise in vanity to impress the Pixar folks. Very sad in my opinion they should theme it in a fun attractive to the eye way not in a bland office block way.

On the outside the Pixar Studio does look very bland! It is however whats inside that makes the place so fun. If you have the Monsters Inc. DVD they have a tour of the facility on it! You should watch it.

By the shape of the building I think the Toy Story ride will have the same bland soundstage look as the other buildings on Mickey Ave....and I think the name Mickey Avenue needs to go. Hyperion Ave works better I think.

Because Hyperion means equally as much to the majority of WDW visitors as the design of the head office of Pixar Studios?....... Nothing at all :hammer:

The new building will look different from the sound-stages! Note the curved roof in the construction pictures! It is obviously a different design.

What was the point of removing the Mickey greeting? Did they simply move it somewhere else? We loved this because it was a great place to see Mickey anytime, in the air conditioning, without waiting in a line as long as the one over in MK. Usually you could spend a little longer with Mickey too since the line wasn't very long. My son loved this! Boo.

Disneyfan89 - all the sound stages at MGM have the curved roof with the squared edges. This building will look the same or very similar.

I wouldn't panic just yet. The building is open now as a temp shop for Star Wars Weekends. Not only the Mickey area, but the room next to it is opened up as well. No ride work is being done in there at all, just shopping...a lot of shopping.
