While this may overlap with other pavilions -- I think the theme of energy is meant to be "universal" (hence the name of the pavilion) -- and in that respect it can cross over with the themes of the environment (The Land, Living Seas) and technology (Test Track, Mission:Space)There's no denying that the Universe of Energy needs an update, and I have some of my own ideas about what should be done. But before we get into them, I'd love to hear some other ideas. I don't want this turning into a one man show.
So what would others like to see for a new Universe of Energy?

I would almost make this into a "Project City" Pavilion -- the ride begins with a history lesson (essentially summarizing the original attraction without having to deal with the outdated Jeopardy references - and focusing more on solar energy, electric cars, etc) -- after this -- the "dinosaur" show scenes I'm visualizing as a bustling city center, with the narrator pointing out all of the new technology and energy resources that are used in the future city. Environmentally friendly techniques as well (tying in with The Land)
The final scene instead of being another video projection, I would have be more of how this example city could evolve to other territories around the world, and beyond the world (connecting with the themes of Horizons/Mission Space)
But that's just one idea -- I'm not tied to it at all.
I've tried to do that before -- it's a fun experiment to try and connect all of the pavilions!I don't think there should be much problem with overlapping with other pavilions, I think it would be quite realistic in a way, as none of these... categories, for lack of a better word, exist in a vacuum, they all effect each other in one way or another.
In fact that could be fun discussion: About how we could overhaul all the Future World Pavilions to show how they're all connected, and how they are all important.
The one concern I have is that if there is overlap, how do we keep it's focus on energy, and not wind up with another reiteration of Horizons?
Idk why, but ive lately felt like adding a coaster themed to energy similar to tron lightcycle would be really cool for the universe of energy pavilion, and could actually modernize the whole pavilion a bit. Although i do really love the original ride, maybe with the addition of an industrialization scene (fossil fuels in action), a present day scene and a future green city scene
Add in a show room representing the Industrial Revolution and show the effects of using fossil fuels used for powering machinery and homes.I told myself I wasn't going to do multiple posts in a row, but it's been a couple days, so I thought I'd make this little reminder.
My above post is just an idea, and is in no way a final reflection of the project, we are still very much in the brainstorming phase, and I would very much like to hear other people's ideas.
I'd be interested in developing a coaster for this...or at least some sort of fast paced thrill ride. While Century 22 has a thrill element in the middle, there isn't a height requirement.Hey guys, since our Horizons: Century 22 is nearing completion, I thought I'd give this little thread a bump, and see if we can start cranking out some ideas.
Discussion so far has included:
A new roller coaster system,
Progress City
Finding a way to tie it together with other Future World pavilions.
Using Bill Nye The Science Guy as a Spokesperson,
And bringing back the Kinetic Sculpture in some way.
The only downside would be capacity, but Epcot does need a coaster!
That would work! You could get around that somewhat by using a Euro-fighter style vehicle, and combine it with a Omnimover style loading system like at Goofy's Sky School in DCA.
