Mickey Monitor Entry 1 : New Epcot Pavilion (Universe of Energy Thread)

There's no denying that the Universe of Energy needs an update, and I have some of my own ideas about what should be done. But before we get into them, I'd love to hear some other ideas. I don't want this turning into a one man show.

So what would others like to see for a new Universe of Energy?

While this may overlap with other pavilions -- I think the theme of energy is meant to be "universal" (hence the name of the pavilion:p) -- and in that respect it can cross over with the themes of the environment (The Land, Living Seas) and technology (Test Track, Mission:Space)

I would almost make this into a "Project City" Pavilion -- the ride begins with a history lesson (essentially summarizing the original attraction without having to deal with the outdated Jeopardy references - and focusing more on solar energy, electric cars, etc) -- after this -- the "dinosaur" show scenes I'm visualizing as a bustling city center, with the narrator pointing out all of the new technology and energy resources that are used in the future city. Environmentally friendly techniques as well (tying in with The Land)

The final scene instead of being another video projection, I would have be more of how this example city could evolve to other territories around the world, and beyond the world (connecting with the themes of Horizons/Mission Space)

But that's just one idea -- I'm not tied to it at all.:bookworm:

I don't think there should be much problem with overlapping with other pavilions, I think it would be quite realistic in a way, as none of these... categories, for lack of a better word, exist in a vacuum, they all effect each other in one way or another.

In fact that could be fun discussion: About how we could overhaul all the Future World Pavilions to show how they're all connected, and how they are all important.

The one concern I have is that if there is overlap, how do we keep it's focus on energy, and not wind up with another reiteration of Horizons?

I've tried to do that before -- it's a fun experiment to try and connect all of the pavilions!

And I agree that we should keep the focus on energy, but with such a broad topic...I'm wondering if it might be best to focus on one specific area of energy, and open up a new pre or post show exhibit, to focus on more broad scoped "energy"

Idk why, but ive lately felt like adding a coaster themed to energy similar to tron lightcycle would be really cool for the universe of energy pavilion, and could actually modernize the whole pavilion a bit. Although i do really love the original ride, maybe with the addition of an industrialization scene (fossil fuels in action), a present day scene and a future green city scene

Okay, this gives me an idea. Let's see what everyone thinks.

First off, there are two things that I want with this attraction. I want to bring back the Kinetic Sculpture from the original. And I want to Bill Nye the Science Guy, whom I felt was the highlight of Ellen's Energy Adventure, to host.

Now, using @orlando678-'s idea, here's a rough concept:

The Universe of Energy building and facade remains largely unchanged, save for maybe a palate update, and small extension at the back, if necessary. But inside, it now becomes an energy research lab that is now giving tours, and our host is none other than Bill Nye The Science Guy (BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL!) sorry where was I? Anyway.

In a preshow, we are given a definition of energy:
That property which much be transferred to an object in order to work on, or heat up, the object. In other words, energy is what makes things happen!

The ride itself is what I would call an EMV roller coaster. Think an advanced version of the Escape from Gringott's vehicles.

As we tour through the lab, we are given demonstrations of different types of energy, and what happens when that energy is transferred to an object, our ride vehicle.

It starts off with something gentle, like Mechanical Energy, where Bill gives our vehicle a push, and we slowly roll down the track.

But as the ride progresses, we are presented with more powerful forms of energy, and a as result, the ride becomes wilder and more thrilling, like with Electrical Energy, where we're shown some LIM motors, told how they work, and then launched down the track into a small roller coaster section.

Now, @spacemt354 mentioned the possibility of tying the attraction in with the other pavilions, but I'm not sure how, perhaps in a post show?

And yes, I am taking some inspiration from Bill Nye's old T.V. show, I'm hoping to aim for that same sort of humorous style without turning the ride into one big episode of Bill Nye The Science Guy.
I'm still not sure where we could use the Kinetic Sculpture.

What do you guys think?

I told myself I wasn't going to do multiple posts in a row, but it's been a couple days, so I thought I'd make this little reminder.

My above post is just an idea, and is in no way a final reflection of the project, we are still very much in the brainstorming phase, and I would very much like to hear other people's ideas.

Don't be shy, there's no such thing as a bad idea.

Unless it was Chester and Hester, but that was a fluke.;)

Add in a show room representing the Industrial Revolution and show the effects of using fossil fuels used for powering machinery and homes.

Wanted to bump this thread back up just to say we've been hitting a stride as of late with Club 32's Fantasyland -- and gaining speed with the new Horizons pavilion. I'd like to pump through the Fantasyland as we are so close to being ready to combine the finished project together, as well as getting the ground game going with Horizons.

Once that happens we can turn our attention here. I know this was one that @QuillPenn really wanted to work on and we will definitely do it!

Hey guys, since our Horizons: Century 22 is nearing completion, I thought I'd give this little thread a bump, and see if we can start cranking out some ideas.

Discussion so far has included:
A new roller coaster system,
Progress City
Finding a way to tie it together with other Future World pavilions.
Using Bill Nye The Science Guy as a Spokesperson,
And bringing back the Kinetic Sculpture in some way.

I'd be interested in developing a coaster for this...or at least some sort of fast paced thrill ride. While Century 22 has a thrill element in the middle, there isn't a height requirement.

The only downside would be capacity, but Epcot does need a coaster!

Well I'm not completely sure. I've had a couple ideas above, but I'm not sure where to go from there.

My biggest interest, I guess, is having Bill Nye as the host, and finding a way to restore the kinetic sculpture from the original attraction.
