I read that once they start working more on the front part of TSM they are going to be blocking Mickey Ave and moving the trailers and other meet and greets to other places in the park. With this there to rename the street My guess is Pixar Plaza..So does this mean that the Mickey Ave/Dopey Drive sign will be gone? I hope it's not..

Pixar Place would be better, if indeed they would rename it. Though - if they are going to rename the studios as Disney-Pixar, I doubt they would name the street after Pixar as well.

get over with it with these stupid rumors!
sorry:)
TSM is going as far as those gates are up, so the pathways might be replaced with TSM, speaking of which there not gonna rename Backlot Tour to "Pixar's Super De Dooper Backlot Tour (our real studio is in california) featuring mike waskowski's big caynon" :ROFLOL:
they won't build their on studio at JIN:CTLTWATW.
they are not renaming it. it's bad enough Mickey avenue and Animation Courtyard splited apart (were they always splited apart?)
my final words
THEY ARE NOT RENAMING IT!:fork:
or
R.I.P. Mickey Avenue:zipit:

TSM is Toy Story Mania

Guessing that's something new that Pixar is using to take over the studios?

I was not all happy happy joy joy about MGM being part but thought it was better then Pixar turning it into a huge kidding land park. Cars and Incredibles and Toy Story overflowing everywhere.

Gone are the days of Mickey and Goofy. Now all we see are Stich and Woody.

To whoever posted above me claiming these were "stupid rumors", Mickey Avenue WILL be closing at one point this summer (possibly July 1st). What they will do and what they will re-theme/change I'm not clear of. It will close after the bathrooms next to the Narnia attraction until somewhere before the Backlot Tour entrance. Kim Possible will go to Streets of America, Mickey will go under the hat (I think) and I don't know what will happen to the Little Einsteins or Jojo.

I will never understand the Pixar haters. It is one of those hatreds that really have no basis.

Yes I agree that the deal made to purchase them was overpriced and terrible. I hate that it was done at that price, and I hate that Jobs has such power in the company.

However, the idea that Pixar is 'taking over' is complete stupidity.
PIXAR IS DISNEY

They are using their popular properties to create new attractions. How is that wrong? Its the smart thing to do. Why create something on a property that did $500m of total business when you can use a property that did $1b? And, really, Toy Story doesn't play as big of a part in TSM as one would think, the characters are a means to introduce a new type of interactive ride, a new innovation.

It was originally Midway Mania, without as much interaction from Toy Story. And it almost was stalled and not done because of that. They added Toy Story and its being built.

Whats better, no ride, or one with characters that are in some other attractions?

As far as the characters go ... yes, now you see Stitch (not a Pixar property, by the way) and Woody a lot. But Mickey and Goofy didn't go anywhere.

Any idea when it will reopen? That will cut off traffic flow back there and probably cause more crowding through the Streets of America. Thanks for the heads-up!

You mean split? No. And before they were `joined` there was just the animation area (Production Center originally) - Mickey Avenue was a backstage area until late 1989.
