Anyone see Mickey give the award for best short animated film? Kinda cheesy if you ask me, pun intended. Why not use the real one?

and no Oscar for feature animated film for Lilo. :( :(
but did anyone really expect it?

I was thinking the exact same thing! Why couldn´t they get a character there? I didn´t even like the voice....

Is this CG Mickey the same one that will be used in Philarharmagic?

I was watching the oscars for this since I knew that a CG mickey would present an award. I thought he looked neat and came across kind of funny and cute. Although, I agree with Maria, his voice did seem a little weird.

I guess its hard do Mickey's voice. But I would be proud to have received an Oscar from the mouse even if he was a CG. I guess they wanted to show Mickey's age by having him stumble on the words and wearing glasses, after all he is 75 years old.

i kinda liked it, it could have been done a little better to look like the 'real' mickey -which hopefully it will be for philharmagic- but yea it was kinda cool.

*and thanks for above link to the disney films site... i had no idea some of those were disney films! -that just makes it so much more frustrating that you dont see much more props, sets, behind the scenes etc. over at MGM!!! ohwell...

No. It was "The Chubbchubbs!" that won the Oscar for best animated short. I thought Mickey was cool!

I think he was saying that Spirited Away won the best animated feature. But yea, the ChubbChubbs won best animated short.

I was really pulling for either Lilo and Stitch or Treasure Planet... oh well, at least a Disney movie won... Anyone have any pics/video of the Mickey award presentation?? I missed it! :(

I was just making reference to the topic concerning the correct winner of the animated short and the appearance by Mickey. Spirited Away had nothing to do with either.:D

Spirited Away won, which is another Disney released movie...so Disney did, in fact, win an Academy Award here...

Disney owns Pokemon?!? That's kinda scary!!! I can just see it now... come back to Picachu's Toontown Fair and ride the Charizard Barnstormer (spelling)?

:lookaroun

SCARY!!!!!

BTW... if I messed up on the Pokemon names, don't attack me visciously!!! Those are the only two that I (maybe) know!!!

Please do not make me look like an idiot. You will find that I will turn it around against you. Read the topic to the thread. "Lilo gets snubbed in animated feature film". Pay better attention, thanks in advance. Spirited Away won in that category, which is a disney owned film. Even if Disney did not physically produce it, I congratulate them for that and Chicago.

As usual, the Oscars are a big fix AND a huge disapointment. I hope the MTV Movie Awards will do the TRUE Disney flicks more justice. Did you see those suits? They didn't even applaud Lilo & Stitch properly! At least they basically shut up during Spirit.

Oh, and let's not mention Visual Effects...We finally see Spider-Man in the big screen doing what only a spider can, and they give it to the little troll thingy... :hurl:

I'm glad "Spirited" won I'm even more glad LILO LOST. The movie was dull-the character is annoying. Maybe this will keep them from shoving this flop down our throats. There are still hundreds of Stitch dolls on the bargain rack at my local DS.:hurl:

Wow, some people take these award shows a *little* too seriously I can see.

I don't see how anyone can compare the ground breaking work that was Gollum in LOTR versus Spiderman swinging around. The best choice won that Oscar IMO.

I also think Lilo and Stitch was one of Disney's best non-Pixar animated features in a long time, as you can tell by my username.

:)

That said, I had some suprises and disappointments with the Academy Awards this year, but it was a good show and Steve Martin did a good job.

I thought the CGI Mickey was kinda neat. Definitely different. In fact that's probably the Mickey Mouse that my children will know in the near future. I enjoyed seeing him give out the Oscar and didn't really notice a difference in his voice.
