Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

Kinda sad how DHS' marquee attraction will wind up being just another clone. I wish they could build something unique to DL. Maybe they can use the same aesthetic but create a different attraction for Mickey.
Disneyland’s will probably be 10x better than WDW’s (usually how it works)...

No not always how it works.

Completely false

I'm not sure about the Q. What you re saying makes sense about Roger being past it's prime. Mickey and Minnie's houses are way more relevant in 2017 then Roger. But speaking strictly logistics, if this is a clone and they re not using any backstage area, then I don't see how it doesn't gobble up pretty much all of Toontown. Roger is boxed in by IASW and backstage stuff. So the building would have to go West taking up the rest Toontown. To me it seems that if any meaningful parts of Toontown stay then the Mickey ride has to go on the residential side of the land. Remember there will still need to be at least one store, a restaurant, bathrooms and some sort of buildup from under the train tracks to the facade. I just don't see how it works without them using the expansion pad and/ or some backstage area.

But who knows. Maybe it's a condensed version of DHS's version. Maybe they will use some backstage ( they haven't exactly been afraid to raze backstage areas lately). Maybe the FL theatre does go.

This is just a hunch, but they may use the trolley barn, the Gag Factory and even the nearby interactive stuff for this ride, as well as some backstage areas. What exactly is back there anyway? It can't be so important that it's unmovable, can it?

My guess is that they will retain the neighborhood area somehow while Roger Rabbit will unfortunately be nixed. I say "unfortunate" because it's a great ride, but on the other hand, it is based on a property that is relatively past its prime, so I would imagine that's what they would go after. And let's be honest, would they really use the expansion pad for anything other than Star Wars?

Like I said, however, this is just a hunch.

Nothing's been announced.

Anyways, nothing about this attraction excites me. At this point, I don’t care if it comes or doesn’t come.

Good points. Im terrible with the backstage logistics. I'm really impressed how many people on this site seem to know what every building on site is used for. If they were to use Roger and downtown, I still think they would need to come up with good chunk of backstage area so I guess it depends how important that stuff is.

It makes sense that the expansion pad would be used for Star Wars. I guess due to partly wishful thinking and for the sake of more variety I would like to see Mickey go there and Roger to survive. I hope they for whatever reason can't use any backstage area which would force them to use the expansion pad and the other side of Toontown.

@GiveMeTheMusic could you weigh on where you think the location will be?

I’m all for a Mickey attraction somewhere in DLR.
I only have 2 gripes with the attraction, and that is both the style of Mickey chosen and that it may come at the expense of Roger Rabbit. In an ideal world, ToonTown would be relocated to HollywoodLand, with both attractions intact.

It's sort of been touched on before but aside from designing a way to keep the entire queue and show building covered for fireworks fallout, if this comes to pass I can't see how they don't either heavily adjust what's left of Toontown or just replace all of it with this attraction. No way they spend what they're gonna spend on this and have it close so often for fireworks when they need every attraction they can to eat up the crowds. It's popularity will mean it needs to be kept open right?

Not sure how you design an entrance that far out but they have to be thinking of a way to do that. So, there's either a way back for just this attraction and TT is gone or a way to get you back to it, Roger, and what's left of an edited and covered TT.

That's no longer a clone and the majority have said TOT at DHS is better. The clones recently have been pretty much the same, The little mermaid ride is the same but WDW has a better facade and queue. SWL is supposed to be the same, Soarin Around the world is the same minus the end, TSMM is the same ride, Star tours the same, etc.

Looks terrible. I am not even excited about it.

Well at least some people at WDW are impressed with the technology including Jim Hill...

Give it time, I'm just glad WDW is finally getting it's own trackless LPS ride let alone a ride finally starring Mickey Mouse. Plus that was only test footage and is still in design and concept phase. Not to mention, we haven't seen any new concept art for what the ride will be besides a glimpse at the preshow and one area that is yet to be revealed.

Haven’t thought about Jim Hill in years.

If you and others like what you see so far, fine. There’s nothing wrong with that. Some of us don’t. That’s fine, too. Something doesn’t have to be out of the design and concept stages for me to start liking it. Guardians is complete and I still disapprove.

The funny thing is, Roger Rabbit is pretty popular, too, if its wait times of 30-45 minutes and its Fastpass availability are any indication. It would be cool if the whole Toontown area was covered. It would certainly solve a lot of problems, and not just fireworks either. Sadly, though, I have a feeling that it's just wishful thinking.
