What buildings are gone? The hills, City Hall, and Gag Factory? I’m not familiar at all with this section of the park and haven’t been following this project too closely, so sorry if this was already answered!

Did they already demolish City Hall?

To answer your and my own question it looks like only the side facade of the Five and Dime has been demolished so far.

Demolition is currently in progress at Mickey's Toontown for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway

Are they getting rid of the eateries, too (i.e., Daisy's Diner, Pluto's Dog House, Clarabelle's Frozen Yogurt)?
Would not surprise me. I would not worry about Toontown being demolished. I'd bet the build this new facade and have some type of remodeled or new eateries added.

I.... think the facade is going to stick right in there. It'll be that corner between five n dime and city hall. Per that photo, City hall is safe.... as of that photo...

Notice the only segments of new building exposed wall that are open (no cross beams) are right there where I've marked arrows. I think the entrance and exit to the show building will be in a corridor right next to each other. Entrance on the left side coming in from my line-ish which will be the new theatre facade... Exit into five n dime store on the right side.

What makes you think that they haven't just begun the demolition, that the other facades won't get scrapped eventually, including City Hall?

If that's the case, why has half of the Five and Dime store been torn out? You would think that it would be spared to be the store at the exit, wouldn't you? I think that more of the surrounding area will be torn out, including the City Hall, before all is said and done.

Have you never seen a McDonald’s torn down to be replaced by a McDonald’s? Something being torn down is not necessarily an indicator that it’s replacement will have a different program.

I remember during my time as a CM, Disney would go on and on about how they weren't allowed or supposed to do construction where Guests could see or hear it during their visits as to preserve the Guest experience. But just shortly afterwards, they started making adjustments to the Pooh meet n' greet during park hours and in full view of park Guests. Now, we're here.

Is this really that salacious? Disney gleefully flattened Tomorrowland in plain view of guests back in 1966.
Same people complaining about snowflakes offended over an attraction based off Song of the South clutch their pearls when they see some construction being done.
