Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

Yes, but in the actual ride, the actual transformation from one location to the next happens only once. Let's also not forget about Mickey and Minnie's car or Goofy's train, both of which are physical.

Anyway, if they did change the ride to be more like the 1930s cartoons, which would great, how can they do it? First of all, they would have to change the car and the train. I've seen the old cartoons countless times, and the only train in an old cartoon that I can remember was the 1929 short: "Mickey's Choo-Choo". It does show the engine being uncoupled from the rest of the train, but obviously Goofy wasn't around in those days.
Of course the ride cars would have to be changed, and so would the facades and anything else physically painted. However since a large majority of the attraction uses screens for the 2.5d projections the amount of physical set pieces needing to be change is minimal compared to other attractions. And that is my point this attraction could be changed in the future quicker and cheaper than other attractions if they choose to do it.

As for what they would change it to, that is not really important for this discussion. However my example was a future CEO creating a new set of shorts based on the classic fab five style of the 40s and 50s. And as such a new short would be created for any attraction change, just like they did for this attraction. So just because Goofy wasn't around for that specific short you mentioned from 1929, doesn't mean he couldn't be for a new short they create in the future based on the classic style.

Anyways lets not get into a huge debate over this. I'm just happy at this point we're still getting this attraction at DL.

When you mentioned 1930s cartoons, I was actually thinking of how it could be done like the cartoons that actually were made in the 1930s, which would be kind of fun, actually, to see how they could fit it in, particularly since I believe that Toontown is ostensibly set in the 1940s, if the license plates in the Roger Rabbit ride are an indication; the original movie is set in 1947.

When did I ever mention the 1930s cartoons?

I want to see something that looks more like Cuphead. Sure that is Max Fletcher rather than Walt Disney but I think it could be adapted.

Honestly, I don't know why it wasn't originally planned for 2023 in the first place, but I would expect it to open October 16, 2023.

Is there any better way to celebrate 100 years of The Walt Disney Company (founded October 16, 1923), than opening a Mickey Mouse attraction at Walt's original park?

This allows the new attraction to be hyped up at the 2023 Disney Expo as well, which will likely be all themed to 100 years of the company.

It's really nice to see this continues forward! I'm kind of surprised at the semi-lack of project cancellations. It really did not seem like they would be eager for either this project or the DL DVC. Some low grade hope the Marvel E-ticket will happen too.

I agree.

I have some low grade hope they’ll to turn back to the coaster idea. Here’s my thought process...Rumor had it they were considering a coaster for GE due to lackluster response and lack of a real thrill ride in the land. Marvel E ticket was already announced and budget probably won’t be there for both attractions in the foreseeable future. Take what you learned from the GE response and put the coaster in Marvel Land since it was already announced and the land needs a headliner.

I have a feeling that e-ticket will be a modified version of Flight of Passage. You won't be flying by wire in front of a movie screen like the concept art shows but will instead be in rows in front of the screen like FoP does.

A Flight of Passage clone or a coaster would be nice, though I'm not sure it would be as spectacular as what many expect from an Avengers ride. I just hope DCA gets some love in the next five years. I'd be fine with something safe but popular for Avengers if we could also get the rumored Coco project. Those are the only two projects I could see moving forward in the current climate....a partial teardown of Hollywoodland is a non-starter.

Some have speculated it would be a seat mounted to an arm of some sort. Not full kuka arm but more teeter totter as seen in the Imagineering documentary.

I know that budget cuts are plentiful so this may be wishful thinking, but I was hoping they would close all of ToonTown for a half year to the lead-up of the opening of MMRR, and that they would give the Alice treatment to Roger Rabbit. Given the lively animated nature of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, I think a projection based upgrade would do wonders and really lend itself well to that attraction. It'd be nice to have a refresh to the ride along with a refresh of the land.
