Sadly yes. I've actually been posting less and less lately (save for the recent Bob-swap announcement) because frankly, I just have come to realize that no one is changing minds on here and it seems the general consensus is that it's just so much more fun and enjoyable to deride every single thing about Disney (not that there isn't stuff that I disagree with)... but man... life is so much more than just the petty stuff we argue about.
Here’s a bit of the beginning of the ride.
Preach @MisterPenguin. Preach! This is the Spirit trap:
There is no one who expresses an opinion you'd rather not hear who doesn't have an ad hominem attack ready to be launched at. You have an opinion different than mine? Then let me explain what's wrong with you or your situation that you can't have the correct opinion... mine.
- You can't trust 'the suits', they're just in it for the money.
- You can't trust the new generation of WDI, they just don't get it
- You can't trust CM opinions, they're either drinking the Kool-Aid or are fearful or reprisal if they say anything negative
- You can't trust mainstream news sources since they fear being cut off by Disney
- You can't trust bloggers since they don't want to lose access to the next cupcake party
- You can't trust guests, they don't know any better.
- You can't trust other forumites, they're 'dusters'
- There are polls or evidence of what the majority think... the poll is just a ruse
Great to see! Thanks for the update from Westcoaster! From Westcoaster: “Still moving earth around.”

Preach @MisterPenguin
Legitimate grievances are definitely one thing, but negativity for the sake of it is making following Disney worse than working night shifts.
This is a big part of it! Good point!“Preach @MisterPenguin. Preach!

Here’s the thing, negativity, at least at the level and kind we see on discussion boards, isn’t just “for the sake of it.” There has always been a human subconscious feeling that somehow negativity proves ones superior knowledge/intelligence on any given subject. It’s not even purposeful or self/knowing, just irresistible for some individuals. It’s also so much easier to make what feels like clever banter when you are disparaging something.
I’m not saying every negative comment on here or any discussion board applies, but a huge amount of them fit this description.
I disagree. There are many times I go on the forums and am flabbergasted by the thought that Disney does no good of so many posters. A not recent example is when Pandora opened, people were going ballistic that it didn't fit Animal Kingdom (even though it fits the aesthetics and nature over man/man's connection with nature themes), to the same degree as Marvel Land not fitting DCA. Opinions and preferences are one thing but logically a big difference, and it's questionable why someone would emphasize the cons over the pros in many cases. Another good critique is New Fantasyland being style over substance, but you see people decimating Rise of the Resistance all the time for petty things. Sure, have an opinion, but come on, it gets to the point on here that you wonder why they are even theme park fans with such an overemphasis on the weaknesses of something that as an end product is solid. I bet it is in a large part how people write on here more so than them being negative. It just comes across that way.No one here is negative just for the sake of it.

There's one thing to trash on Pixar Pier or dessert parties, there's another to act like Disney is akin to an oil company. Or even when a new sign goes up, people act like the soul of the park is gone.
I'm not saying this applies to everyone or every time, and maybe it's banter, but as a reader, it comes across as a depressing scenario when the parks haven't been this invested in since the 1990s.
I'm a deep believer in critiquing to improve something you love and I'm no Pixie Duster, but I really love great theming and the parks deliver it for me. I try to be more pointed about the bad so it can be taken seriously, and not muddle it in so much that I get depressed and begin hating my joy for Disney.

It's as if they can't understand we can hold different thoughts in our head simultaneously:Eh sure.
I’m quite negative about Galaxy’s Edge. But not because I care about my IQ (no clue what it is).
It is because with a company with leadership that would faster build Emotional Whirlwind than another “nondescript coaster somewhere, that maybe is [themed like] India or something,” people need to hold them to the standards they’re masquerading under.
Without criticism, Disney would be a deflated mess of x wing spinners and crazy mouse coasters from your local fair (oh, wait...).
Just watched the ************** preview of Runaway Railway, which shows a lot of the Florida ride. It looks completely charming. Not mind-blowing, just pure, wonderful fun. Can’t wait to see a full POV.
That looks so much better than I expected. I'm looking forward to it coming to Disneyland! It'll be a great addition to Toon Town.Just watched the ************** ... er... that channel’s preview of Runaway Railway, which shows a lot of the Florida ride. It looks completely charming. Cannot wait for this to be at Disneyland!
The cartoon styles will clash like crazy, but oh well! Looks like damn good fun.
